The first is one of my all-time favorite comedies. Normally I’d be pretty against a sequel like this but I’m actually cautiously optimistic.

I don't know about this, maybe if it's very explicitly a self parody of old geezers trying to relive their glory days to make a fast buck in both film and with classic rock bands. The first one is one of those things where you can't just capture that kind of magic twice, though.

I haven't even seen the first one, but I'm starting the Michael McKean Oscar campaign right now.

From World of Reel but references a podcast source Rob Reiner, who directed “This is Spinal Tap,” has confirmed (via Podcast) that a sequel is happening and will start production in February. He adds that there will also be a ton of cameos …
Everybody’s back. Paul McCartney is joining us, and Elton John. And a few other surprises, Garth Brooks. www.worldofreel.com/blog/2023/11/27/orqiy4nodn4i0j3is5pq9lv27mct4m
