As one of the biggest MCU haters on the board, I won't say too much, but the Raimi touches definitely give this one a good burst of fun at times. It gets better as it goes along, which is like the opposite of what I was expecting. First two-thirds are mostly the usual MCU nonsense but Raimi really comes to life in the final stretch. At least it's nice to see one of these do some cool shit with the camera a few times!

Part MCU, part Sam Raimi flick. Loved the horror vibes. Plot was underwhelming. The conflict was established very early and from then on it gets predictable so they resorted to cameos and callbacks while Raimi doing his theatrics. Most of it worked but some didn't. The action part is good and visuals are spectacular. The movie was fast paced like it literally opens with action scene. Some breathing space was needed. Elizabeth Olsen stole the show. Cumberbatch was good but the focus was more on Wanda. At times it feels like we are watching a Scarlet Witch movie.
There's a much hyped cameo scene in the later half of the movie that fans have been waiting to see but some may not like the outcome of it. Personally i liked the way Raimi dealt that scene taking away some pleasure of fan service- 7.5/10

Mediocre. The central conflict is underwhelming and the movie feels sort of nonscencial. I think they didn't explore the multiverse aspect of it enough, which feels kind of like a missed opportunity. Sam Raimi's touch was definitely appreciated, although it wasn't really enough to truly elevate the movie for me. Just as No Way Home it's too much lazy writing (and some just plain stupid), which I guess if fair since they do not not need to more at this point. I also found Olsen's performance to straight up bad, don't know what was up with her. There were generally nice visuals in the film although the first dream sequence looked quite bad. Spent way too much time on the Rachel McAdams character, it would have been a better movie if that was much less. I guess more on the positive side there were some suspenseful moments and nice action, but hardly enough to make it more than passable.

I really enjoyed, though this is probably the movie that will make less sense to anyone that isn't following pretty much everything in the MCU. Raimi manages to leave his mark even in such a plot-heavy movie. And I do agree it gets better as it goes along. I also hope the cameos aren't the only thing people will talk about, particularly Xavier- who is the Animated Series version

Yeah, Raimi just knows how to film comic book stuff better than anyone. Script isn't anything to write home about (the first act like with every other MCU film was really sweaty), but seeing Sam "put the camera on a plank and run through the woods for some demon POV" Raimi get to play in this sandbox was pretty cool. Funny to see a lot of people online upset their fancasted cameos didn't happen when we all knew the only cameo that really mattered was Bruce Campbell.
Elizabeth Olsen continues to develop her strong performance from WandaVision where they finally cracked the code on her character. Cast as a whole is pretty good, though some notable minor parts yield unimpressive results. The lack of chemistry between Cumberbatch and McAdams (both of whom are doing otherwise good work) was a problem in the first film, but man does it really dampen what could otherwise have been a solid emotional arc in this one. Still, all that can be forgiven because Raimi goes full Raimi in the 3rd act.

This was ok, struggling to think of anything as funny and gnarly in the MCU as Cumberbatch delivering an emotional speech as a rotting CG corpse so I love Raimi for that one.

I hated it. The multiverse has to be the worst thing that happened to MCU, there's no respect for narrative and congruence, their "anything can happen" mojo reduces the steaks to the bare minimum and just like No Way Home, there's no consideration for what they stablished in previous efforts. The low point for me is the treatment of Wanda, all the 10 hours I sat through the very good Wandavision wasn't worth it, they throw all that work out of the window, all the nuance and layers of her character is reduced to a tired, sexist cliche of the scorned woman becoming the villian of the story and has to sacrifice herself to apologize for what she did. Bullshit. Sure Elizabeth Olsen wasn't happy because she looked confused the whole time with a very thick valley girl accent (or whatever she was doing). For all the cameos, they have no shame, not even for profesor X, in a couple of seconds they destroy him and reduce him to a little mouse and all the random brutal deaths....laborious, Raimi has a ball but who cares if all comesout of nowhere, the Dr Strage v Dr Strage fighting to music notes is the stupidest thing I've seen in the franchise. Hope he got a big check to then make another Drag Me to Hell.

While I appreciated that this was more distinctive in terms of its directorial voice, I think I still slightly prefer the first DS film, which had dazzling set pieces and was actually more visually impressive imo. I still enjoyed this, but it was CGI-heavy in a way that somehow didn’t bother me as much in the first one. DS1 also has one of the best scores of any Marvel film, whereas here I thought Elfman’s work was rather pedestrian. Not sure how I felt about John Krasinski’s cameo. Just felt kind of wooden and out of place to me. I expect we’ll see him in an actual Fantastic Four movie at some point, but it would be kind of hilarious if he were just some variant that’s killed off and left at that.

Looked up the Bruce Campbell scenes since that’s the only thing this has going for it and now the only way I could get excited for a marvel flick is if Raimi were to direct a Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness adaptation

Honestly, while I’m glad they confirmed him for the future, it would have been trippy if they’d brought back Ioan Gruffudd for that scene. Apparently he wasn't even their first choice. If it wasn't for Covid, it would have been Daniel Craig. Not sure if I like that, but it would have been neat.

Man it felt REALLY good to witness Raimi's stylistic flourishes and the deranged shit unfolding in IMAX 3D. The writing needed some work and it goes way too fast at points but overall, it was an outrageously fun and crazy ride. Elizabeth Olsen, the music battle and Bruce Campbell were the MVPs along with Raimi's direction.

Despite a decent amount of classic Raimi visual flourishes and sweet horror moments (the Carrie homage was fucking awesome)... plot-wise this is the sort of MCU blandness where it's borderline impossible to care about what's going on. Once a ridiculous looking John Krasinski showed up along with Professor X in a bumper car... I was truly at a loss for words.
almost won me back with the awesome Zombie Strange, but it was definitely too late at that point.
the Bruce Campbell cameo was absolutely perfect, at least...
hopefully the success (lol) of this, along with all the love for Tobey in No Way Home, will convince Sony to let Raimi go to town on Spider-Man 4 once and for fucking all.

The better multiverse movie of the year.
You're all grouches - this was a blast! It's like someone kept Raimi locked in the basement for a bunch of years and then after finally being released the first thing he rushed to was his toy box. A relentless (loved the pace of it - the movie always keeps its energy going) and suitably crazy ride which lives up to the titutal promise of madness. You can just feel that Raimi is having a whole bunch of fun with it all. The movie doesn't take itself too seriously, moves along at a great speed and tries to excite and entertain at every possible opportunity. I loved it.

One thing I want to note that has bothered me in recent years but was especially prominent here: the complete lack of consideration for setting. The 3rd act of this movie takes place on a snowy mountain, nobody is dressed for that at all (least of all America who's in a damn jean jacket), and not once do I see anyone shiver, dust off snow, nothing. I have no idea if that was a late change in the visual effects to have it be snowy, but it was enormously distracting the complete disconnect of the characters from their environment.

Following the Roe v Wade reversal, maybe it wouldn’t be the worst thing if Wanda annihilated the universe.

Kinda was my guess. Didn’t think he’d get cast in the feature role given his deal over at Paramount. Who knows, I guess he still can and he’d probably be fine, but I’d prefer a different actor. Plus, some of the fan outrage would be super entertaining to read.

Incoherent plot filled with ridiculous exposition, shitty (ret-conny) motivations for Scarlet Witch that have her placing the entire multiverse in jeopardy (all the universes -- all of them, fuckin Thanos wishes) just to spend time with two really annoying kids, practically no jokes, horrible action scenes with goofy and dated CGI, and a "use the force" ex machina at the end just because. Zero stakes.
I know some are giving it a pass because of Raimi's idiosyncrasies but for me they just made it worse, because on top of it being a shitty superhero movie it's reeeeally weird too. As much as I hated Eternals and Captain Marvel for being generic-ass MCU films with cringey jokes, bland characters and lame action, those viewing experiences were so much less painful than whatever the hell this was. It's unbearable.

How Raimi went from the glorious Spider-man 2 to absolute garbage like that Oz movie and this is mind-boggling.
