An embarrassment of riches, this festival has been. Even the "disappointments" still intrigue me to no end. I definitely expect a tie in here somewhere. Though lol, watch Bardo win something. I think the rules don’t allow ties in Venice. Yes, of all the movies that clearly divided audiences, Bardo is the one I feel could surprise somewhere. There was a Best Director tie between two films in 2016, so it has happened but I feel like they ask for special dispensation to do it. I also get the vibe that Julianne Moore really digs AGI. (Watch her appear in one of his films within a decade if it wins a big prize.)

Panahi is clearly gunning for the Golden Lion, the movie is fantastic. Pre-callbacks predictions: Golden Lion: All The Beauty and The Bloodshed Grand Jury Prize: No Bears Jury Prize: The Banshees of Inisherin Best Director: Alice Diop - Saint Omer Best Actor: Brendan Fraser - The Whale Best Actress: Trace Lysette - Monica Best Screenplay: TAR Best Young Actor: Taylor Russell - Bones and All Taylor Russell is 28, I don't think she qualifies for "young actor".

Mila Kunis won hers at 27 (when she had already broken through in a massive way). There's no general consistency to these.

I might be spreading bs btw haha. The Italian journalist retracted his Fukada rumors. Blanchett is back in Venice, so TÁR has definitely won something.

Anna Diop, Martin McDonagh, Luca Guadagnino and Laura Poitras are on the red carpet apparently. Seems that Moore and her jury have aligned with the critics. Here’s a link to the red carpet: link

I think both of our Volpi winners are getting nominated, and Cate now has muscle for a third win.

Hope this leads to actor nod. I think he just shot up to #2 or #3 right now in the listings for Best Actor. The Banshees of Inisherin is gold on the table from an excellent studio -- McDonagh could win Screenplay (he got damn close last time) and I think Farrell is now in with a shout to potentially snatch the Comedy Globe from Butler. His banner year only gives his campaign a shot in the arm.
