The Son is getting very mixed reviews. Looks like Women Talking is winning Adapted Screenplay.

Yeah, The Son sucks, though Jackman is really good.

Monica Bellucci resembles Isabelle Adjani nowadays. They might play sisters.

Looks like the Volpi Cup for Best Actress race is about to get even bloodier.

My current prize predix:
Golden Lion: All the Beauty and the Bloodshed Grand Jury Prize: TAR Silver Lion for Best Director: Romain Gavras, Athena Volpi Cup for Best Actor: Ricardo Darin, Argentina, 1985 Volpi Cup for Best Actress: Trace Lysette, Monica Golden Osella for Best Screenplay: The Banshees of Inisherin Special Jury Prize: Blonde Marcello Mastroianni Award: Taylor Russell, Bones and All
I was really struggling on where to put Saint Omer, because I feel like they wouldn't turn that film down at all. Wouldn't be surprised at a sneaky tie though somewhere.

At this point I’ll wait until the Panahi screens so I can update my predictions, but I’m still holding firm on my idea that the Poitras doc wins the Lion.

From Deadline on Blonde :
Forget Seberg, forget Mank, forget Judy — Andrew Dominik’s Venice Film Festival competition entry Blonde takes a blowtorch to the entire concept of the Hollywood biopic and arrives at something almost without precedent.
Gus Van Sant, at the height of his Béla Tarr period, achieved something remarkable and kind of similar with 2005’s Last Days, an immersive but fictional rumination on the events preceding rock star Kurt Cobain’s suicide in 1994. But then, Blonde’s closest antecedents are all in fiction — anyone expecting an idiot’s guide to Marilyn Monroe will be surprised or even appalled to see the late star’s life presented as a horror movie in the surreal, nightmarish style of David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, another film about a blonde actress struggling with the boundaries between fantasy and fiction and whose star, Naomi Watts, was attached to this movie way back in the day.

Ana de Armas is very good but unfortunately I didn’t like the movie. It’s miserable, sort of pornographic and just as soft and subtle as a sledgehammer.

I dont care what these people say. Who cares if Dominik is misogynistic. This is why we need to stop centralizing criticism to American critics

The Blonde reviews are exciting to me because these read as genuinely divisive - not "mixed" which is called divisive all the time but isn't the same thing really.....I mean I might hate it but it sounds like when I see it, it's gonna be fun to talk about ....whether it's good or not.........we need more movies that make some people rapturous and some people want to punch the movie in the face....

Ana de Armas right now screams "contender that misses all the precursors but makes acting lineup on the strength of #1 votes".

Just finished reading Blonde and it sounds like, for better and/or worse, Dominik made a pretty loyal adaptation.

Even the "disappointments" still intrigue me to no end. I definitely expect a tie in here somewhere. Though lol, watch Bardo win something.

Yes, of all the movies that clearly divided audiences, Bardo is the one I feel could surprise somewhere.
