Everything about this looks extremely unappealing to me and I despise this multiverse baloney. Should I even bother? Finally watched this, and I have to admit that I mostly liked it. First half is a complete blast thanks to the legend AlphaWaymond. I'm now beyond satisfied with the Ke Huy Quan sweep. Yeoh, Curtis, and Hong are dynamite as well. Second half is where it kinda falls apart. The whole Jobu Tupaki thing doesn't work for me. I completely agree with DeepArcher . The mother-daughter relationship resolution is extremely murky and I didn't feel most of the big emotional payoffs. Also, some of the scenes drag like crazy. The final confrontation between Yeoh and Hsu felt like 6 hours. Yeah, when I rewatched the film, the Jobu stuff was almost interminable and brought it down substantially, to say nothing of the fact it gets reeeeeeeeal baggy in the back half. I think a good half hour could've been trimmed from it, easy.

I was surprised how emotional it is. So I enjoyed the payoff.
I agree that it drags a bit and could have been trimmed down but it's still one of my favorites of the year. The craft is excellent and it would be a worthy BP winner.

decent movie. the last 30 minutes or so are the best and the emotional payoff resonated with me moreso than i thought it would since i was sitting on the fence in terms of liking the movie for the first hour and a half or so. good performances from the main 3. jaime lee curtis isn't bad by any means but how the fuck did she get nominated for this genuinely surprised the kind of love this has been receiving, especially from the general audience. i would have never guessed this would have an 8 on IMDb, 89% on RT from the audience, and is a front runner for BP. it's ambitious and weird though, so i don't mind it getting the kind of love it has been receiving.
