...considerably. Adding this last bit to separate stuff like The Good, The Bad and The Ugly or The Godfather where most (if not all) elements of filmmaking are top-notch, from the ones which the OST is so good that it redeems some obvious imperfections - to you at least.

Tron: Legacy is greatly improved thanks to Daft Punk's score.
Chariots of Fire, although it's not bad but the score certainly upped any interest I had in that film.

The Village is a great movie, but it would feel much lesser without the score.
EDIT: I could make a whole subset of scores better than the movie they’re in, too

Might be one of the ultimate examples of the phenomenon. 100% disagreed on the second, though speaking of 80s Best Picture winners I'd totally throw Out of Africa in to this category.

EDIT: I could make a whole subset of scores better than the movie they’re in, too I'd say this about Shyamalan and JNH in genereal which is why it's so sad to me that their collaboration seems to be over. It seems to me that JNH did a lot of work to save stuff like Lady in the Water, The Last Airbender or The Happening. Now, whether they were actually saved or not is something that's up to debate but I have no doubt that they would've been significantly worse if not for their scores.

I don't know about elevate, but I couldn't imagine Lord of the Rings without Howard Shore's music. Under the Skin is another example where Mica Levy's score plays a vital role in establishing the vibe. A scoreless cut of that film would be really hard to watch.
and it's not a "score" but the folk soundtrack of Inside Llewyn Davis is one of the reasons I love it so much. It allows the movie to feel situated in that time and place and in that scene. It adds an element of nostalgia (especially for folk fans) to compliment the film's other great qualities. It wouldn't be the same without the songs.

Any film with a score, that's not a bad score.

Gettysburg, even if in some places it’s a bit too much and over-romanticizes the battle but it’s greatness throughout the rest of the film vastly outweighs this

Dances with Wolves. Which is a good film but the score is terrific.
