just a heads-up, I *don't think* Eyes Wide Shut would be eligible for score. As much as I ADORE "Masked Ball" and "Migrations", everything I found about Pook's involvement indicated that those tracks from the OST were reworkings of her previous music. Kubrick played "Masked Ball" while rehearsing the scene even before contacting Pook, and "Migrations" (the orgy music) appears on her 1997 album Deluge. I think she wrote some original music for the movie but as far as I understand, "Masked Ball" and "Migrations" weren't composed for the film.

C o n s i d e r ...
In 1999 the great Robert Richardson had not one but two highly noteworthy achievements that simply ought to be recognized.
Snow Falling on Cedars may have been failed Oscar bait (I watched it today and liked it though) but its Cinematography nomination was an absolutely right call. The grey/silvery color palette strikes me as a strikingly executed aesthetic choice, and pretty much every frame is carefully considered and beautifully lit. It's a marvelous looking film.
And then there's also Bringing Out the Dead which, on the contrary, goes for bold lighting and an overexposed quality of the image which gives it a strong dreamlike sensation and is also great at reflecting what seeing light must feel like when you haven't slept in many many hours and are working in a dazed state.
So please, do not forget Mr. Richardson this year!

Not that I would personally nominate him (although he is very good) but I'm a 100% confident that he would've been nominated for this had the movie been received in the intended way. It's like a classic Supporting Actor, Played by a Veteran type of contender.

I missed the previous note, but why stop? We have all those other years to go and we're just now getting to my favorite decade.

I'll get something in after the weekend. I'm also willing to take over if there is any interest in continuing.

Is the consensus on Brad Pitt in Fight Club lead or supporting?
I've always considered him lead.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to continuing, but I am a bit miffed that I've missed so much in the 90s and don't really have time to catch up on it atm. Basically my VFX lineups are going to be almost nonexistent and my sound & song lineups are going to be hard to fill out but I wouldn't have any problems with the main categories.

I think that is true of a lot of people. Certainly that is the case for me. Several tech categories were left unfinished by me. Best actress as well (although the other acting categories were stuffed so full that many great performances missed out). That's just the way it's gonna be, I think. I'm okay with that: I don't consider this to be a real competition, just a method of film recommendation. If these awards mean that I find a good movie I wouldn't have otherwise sought out, then they have served their purpose.
