Welcome to the Movie Awards Redux Past Awards for 1999.
As I mentioned before, this will be the final year in this series. Let's try to go out on a high note.
The following categories will have up to 7 nominees:
Best Picture Best Director Best Actor Best Actress Best Supporting Actor Best Supporting Actress Best Original Screenplay Best Adapted Screenplay
The following categories will have up to 5 nominees:
Best Ensemble Cast Best Cinematography Best Production Design Best Costume Design Best Makeup and Hair-styling Best Stunt, Fight and Dance Choreography Best Visual Effects Best Editing Best Sound Mixing Best Sound Editing Best Original Score Best Original Song
Please submit ranked ballots to me. You can submit ballots with less than the category's number or without certain categories other than the top 8.
The top 8 categories will be scored thus:
1. 5 points 2. 4 points 3. 3 points 4. 2 points 5. 1 point 6. 1 point 7. 1 point
You can submit just 5 if you'd like and your top choice will still get the full points. Less than 5 and it will count for fewer points.
The eligibility period will be for the first theatrical release in any country. Festival releases still don't count though. Look on IMDb for that information.
The voting period will be until June 2nd at 11:59pm PST.
You can post any FYCs in this thread.

CONSIDER. Or we just change the rules to give him the win pre-nominations, it's justified.

Some films you should consider watching before submitting a ballot: Time Regained is my favorite film of the year, one of the best films of the 90s and a culmination of Raul Ruiz' unique cinematic style. Gohatto is Oshima's last film and, arguably, his best. Not One Less is another great entry in Zhang Yimou's filmography, probably his most sociopolitical work. The Colour Of Paradise is one of the best films of the Iranian New Wave. The Mission is Johnnie To at his coolest and I think nobody needs any more reason to watch it than that. It's one of the most stylish crime films out there. And Luna Papa is the best Kusturica film not directed by Emir Kusturica. It's just fascinating stuff. I completely agree with Martin Stett that this year absolutely rocks.

This might be my favorite year of all time, given the amount of films I rate with a 10 or a 9:
10/10 American Beauty The Straight Story All about my Mother Eyes Wide Shut The Virgin Suicides
9/10 Notting Hill Election Girl Interrupted The Sixth Sense
Needless to say, I'll be voting massively for all of these (except Virgin Suicides, which isn't eligible), especially in the acting categories.
