Guess this is fabricated per an actual member of NYFCC. I think some of it maybe true just going by tweets of some NYFCC voters who talked about some of the voting, but who knows how much is true. Maybe WOR was always like this, but I don’t remember them being so click baity before this year. I mean they were always somewhat like that, but this year it’s like they’ve entered into Mike Zeroh territory.

Guess this is fabricated per an actual member of NYFCC. We really need to stop posting World of Reel articles. Ruimy's whole schtick is 50% summing up discussions on various Twitter threads and message boards, 30% baseless supposition, and 20% straight-up making shit up. This is the first I’ve heard of them.

He's way too quick in what he posts too - and then he gets caught with his boxers down.........like his best stuff is stuff that isn't rushed and posted.........his post about Gaga's win was also fncking embarrassing.......he has value about productions and release gossip..........but not this stuff

Yes, and that goes for me even if they publish something about one of my faves especially if it’s positive because I don’t think WOR cares anymore about seeming like a reliable source because if people talk about them being unreliable that just means more attention. To be fair, maybe they were always this bad, but this is the second big incident in about a month or two where they clearly embellished things. The first was with HOG where they talked about how certain pundits/critics hated it, and while those people may not have raved it, WOR made it much worse than it seemed. Like I don’t want to give Jeffrey Wells any attention either, but he had put HOG on his just okay list, when before that happened WOR was like Wells just hates this and thinks it’s a big pile of shit. And I know that some critic in LA had to clarify that WOR’s information about what he thought of the film wasn’t true either.

He has his own biases, which he lets cloud his judgment... but outright making this shit up and then using the excuse of "I heard it from someone who's in the know" makes him pretty useless as far as journalism and prognostication goes. He is the Scott Templeton of the awards season.

Hunter and Kamisnki are the most important wins to me. I feel like a lot of ppl have been keeping Kaminski out of their top 5s but the cinematography always looked really stunning to me. I know he's probably stronger anyway now the movie's getting raves but I always felt he looked good for a nomination. Everyone loves Janusz!
and of course Hunter really needed this. So glad she's staying in the conversation.

Jordan Ruimy responds:
Amidst the brouhaha going on, in the fake world of Twitter, over my reporting on the NYFCC runners-up, what struck me most is how herd mentality has infected American film criticism over these last five or so years. The attacks I’ve been getting from close to half the members of this prestigious film body is both depressing and alarming.
My runners-up piece was based on three separate sources, all of whom are members of the NYFCC. For the group to slander me on social media and call me out for “bullshit misreporting” is an absolute indictment of their own elitist attitudes towards “other” journalism.
It’s no secret that the group has been adamantly trying to avoid any runners-up from being leaked, at least since 2013 when a member was kicked out for posting the entire vote tally. My main question here is, who cares? Why are they being so defensive about my reporting? Why are they purposely trying to smear me and call me names when they fully-well know that what I published is, at the very least, 95% accurate.
I know the answer: it’s elitism. They want to be the ones who know what happened during the vote and nobody else. Twitter isn't even a problem on its own, since most genuine people ignore it. The problem is that the media has built a world around it, and taken it as their temple for pompous thought and groupthink.
Maybe the NYFCC folks were also a little irked by my calling their Gaga win a “travesty.” Who cares. It’s fair game. I was allowed to state that. Imagine getting all worked up over something so utterly trivial. These people actually think who the runner-ups are in their little trophy game matters in this world.
With all that being said, I stand by my reporting.

It actually sounds like Ruimjo was telling the truth, his RU list was just backed up with another member in the know. I fully admit that I’m only invested in getting to the truth because I need to know if Will Smith was truly 2nd there lol.
The entire thing is unfortunate and I think he’s going to lose a lot of connections as a result. I’m here for the drama, but I have no idea what he hoped to gain from doing this.
