Yeah, this is easily Scott Cooper's best film and is one of the best horror flicks I've seen in the last decade. It scratched every itch I had and left me hungry for more. Keri Russell and Jesse Plemons are great, but the real star of the film is Jeremy T. Thomas, who gives one of the most unnerving child performances in recent memory. The effects are solid, the cinematography appropriately gloomy, and this film doesn't skimp on the violence by any means. It actually put me in mind of what Muschietti's It and the recent Pet Sematary tried to do but fell massively short on accomplishing.

I had a lot of narrative and pacing issues with it, but the heights are REALLY high. Great makeup especially.

Is this streaming anywhere? Currently a theatrical exclusive, gonna arrive on HBO Max in US and Disney+ everywhere else. Probably a month or two later.

What we thinking in terms of Keri's and Jeremy's category placements?? Both lead for me.

I really dug this. Lots of beautiful scenery with a very eerie aesthetic. Strong performances as well. Got a little far fetched in the climax but nothing too unforgivable. Solid stuff.

After being really excited by the first trailer and then disheartened by the reviews, I'm more enthusiastic after seeing the response on this board. Looking forward checking it out when it comes to streaming.

Antlers was decent but not even close to Cooper’s best film. That would be the underappreciated/under-discussed Hostiles.

Antlers was decent but not even close to Cooper’s best film. That would be the underappreciated/under-discussed Hostiles. Hostiles still chafes me when I think about it because I think despite the craft and the performances, that film just completely misfired because it took the absolute wrong tack in its perspective (and I have written about that at length elsewhere). But Antlers kind of has a similar issue because it's clear that the Native influence of the mythology really should've had more of a presence in it than simply having Graham Greene give unsettling mystical exposition for five minutes. It's not quite as egregious as Hostiles, but it's still very apparent.

This was ABYSMAL. After he failed miserably in the western genre with Hostiles (the film that claims to be sympathetic to the American Indian, yet opens with them massacring a white family for the hell of it... before he goes on to badly waste Wes Studi for the rest of the movie), he's even more out of his element here. Incredibly dull and even more stupid... and throws around five interesting ideas out there for what the movie is really about, but doesn't even bother to commit to or explore one of them. And the monster being a xenomorph made out of tree branches... lmao. No wonder he was so afraid to actually show it for the majority of this clunker. Keri Russell had some good moments (and one or two bad moments). Plemons is a non-entity. The kid was alright. Sad to say this as I loved Crazy Heart and Black Mass... and moderately liked Out of Furnace. But I genuinely have no clue what Cooper's deal is anymore.

My last impression on this film was very low after seeing it. Nice visuals/effects though that was it. I expected a lot more. I need rewatch this one for sure.
