First pic is him younger. Second is with Hoover, and probably nearer the time of the events in the book. Richard Jenkins twenty years ago would have worked. When I look at this picture I think it's a shame that this wasn't made when Robert Shaw was still alive.

Interesting. I figured DiCaprio would play White.
Damon or McConaughey would probably be my top choices. The role is kind of vanilla so I think they need a star to add some charisma. Plus - if you are going up against DeNiro and DiCaprio, you need a big name.

Or maybe... Bradley Cooper? He's friends with DiCaprio, worked with De Niro multiple times, and is in his career peak. I'm thinking Nightmare Alley might conflict. It's filming early 2020 and Scorsese wants to start this in March. Pitt could work.

I’m starting to think Bale makes the most sense... What makes you think that? He's a big name, he's played lawmen, he's been in movies set around the same era... And he needs to work with DiCaprio sooner or later...

What makes you think that? He's a big name, he's played lawmen, he's been in movies set around the same era... Yeah, but he was never good as any of them. So I hope he doesn't get that role.

White is supposed to be in his 40s here... right? But he was a former Texas Ranger (which makes him sound older) and people looked old as hell back then.... so age him up and get Billy Bob or Woody Harrelson. Or Olyphant... or Brolin. Or go younger and get Ben Foster. Who knows which way they'll go with it... but there's plenty of options. I got about 50 pages into the book a year ago and decided I'd rather wait for the movie.... but now I'm thinking I might as well just read the damn thing. Especially since it seems like they'll be changing it up a good deal... That could work.

No surprise, but Prieto will be shooting it (12:40):
Some Irishman spoilers beforehand for anyone that plans to watch the whole thing.

We can scratch out Bale as Tom White. He's supposedly doing a movie with O. Russell next.

Aside from Bale, I think it's time we should start getting some official casting info if they're going to start shooting spring/early summer...

He said he is done with weight changes in a recent interview. I'm still rooting for him to play Ferrari for Mann honestly. I hope Mann too, like Bale, catches on to the fact that they only need a fatsuit to fatten up for the role, and just get on with his original project and original choice for lead. 😀 Michael Mann is one of the executive producers of Ford v. Ferrari and that means his Ferrari biopic is a gone case.

We can nix Brolin too. He'll be in the next Soderbergh.

Michael Mann is one of the executive producers of Ford v. Ferrari and that means his Ferrari biopic is a gone case. Btw... Killers of the Flower Moon really reads like it could have been a great Michael Mann movie. Of course Scorsese can do anything... but I definitely would've been interested in Mann's take on this. Yeah, I'd also be even more interested if Michael Mann would direct this. I mean I'm highly anticipating this, but this could have been perfect up Michael's alley.
(But then I'd probably generally give Mann the slight edge over Scorsese as a filmmaker).
