I was referring to Killers of the Flower Moon, not Power of the Dog. gotcha, but I'd disagree that he was a coattail for PotD.

He didn't appear anywhere until BAFTA when the film was overperforming with nominations, and when Jared Leto was dropping off at the tail end of the season. Plemons was the very definition of a coattail performance. You may have thought him to be very good, there's nothing that says a coattail performance can't be good, but if you chart the trajectory of awards season that year, he absolutely fits the criteria.

It depends on how much they love the movie. Plemens could score a nomination over an actor in a lesser film. This is worse than the people who still use a double 'm'. But is it worse than Olivia "Coleman"?

Neglia and that Oscar Expert dweeb say Gladstone is definitely supporting. Which dweeb? His Twitter/YouTube name actually is just 'Oscar Expert'.

His Twitter/YouTube name actually is just 'Oscar Expert'. His name is Cole Jaeger. Apparently he is a comedian, musical artist, and member of the Hollywood Film Critics Association.

Y'all are just too hard on the Oscar Expert and Brother Bro. As far as pundits go, they're harmless and I actually think they're fun.

Cole Jaeger is an example of the "potential" backlash towards this movie - as I mentioned yesterday, the "somewhat" negative reaction to the POV telling of this story which crops up even in good reviews - and almost all the reviews are better than good.......
If KOTFM wins best picture it will be because it swerves his kind of mindset .........if DiCap, De Niro, Scorsese, Screenplay don't "win"......well he staked out the "Why?" explanation pretty early......I mean he actually says straight out why Gladstone could "not win" in his review even!
Not only don't I think he's harmless - I think he's kind of daring in a way actually (really) - in his Youtube review he articulates what others are merely "hinting" at.....

He just can't help himself lmao. I love this man. I still remember him saying "Trump the Chump!" De Niro hardly has an opinion on anything, but he really despises that man.

Love these Cannes applause videos. All the love in the room! I love videos where Marty is being applauded and he has that look for a few seconds where he's trying to be all cool and dignified, and then he can't hold it back anymore and that joyous smile breaks. Marty is so adorable. He's still gives off the energy of an excited little boy. I rewatched Raging Bull the other day for the first time in years and I was blown away all over again. It happens every time. He really should have been given all the flowers then and for Goodfellas. Out of everyone still breathing, no one better represents what American cinema should be. Reviews? Irrelevant to me. I can't wait for this.

Though we obviously get more insight into the performances in this trailer, I definitely preferred the first one. That one was on the level of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy's first trailer back in the day.

De Niro looks fantastic. Small sample but he really disappears into the role.

More like the "oh shit, Dune: Part Two got pushed and we got a chance at the apple" effect. But yeah, this is awesome.

I look forward to seeing if the movie is good enough/specific enough to render the fact that certainly DiCaprio is a couple of decades too old to be playing that role irrelevant. I reckon this might be a common theme in movies this year. Another great trailer anyway.

It's a better trailer than the second one, and I appreciate the way they deploy the critics' blurbs about DiCaprio and Gladstone... but it still kinda frustrated me that Gladstone didn't get a name drop along with DiCaprio/De Niro, when they really should be promoting her more than the other two.

Not if their main objective if to get people to see this in the theater. I'm not saying they need to ignore Scorsese, De Niro and DiCaprio's involvement in favour of Gladstone. But she is the face of representation in a movie about First Nations people being exploited and murdered, and it did leave a sour taste in my mouth when we saw "Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio" and "Academy Award winner Robert De Niro" at the end, but nothing for Gladstone, who has been on the posters and other trailers for marketing purposes.
