This should be on the television board but holy hell is accurate. I finished it last night after binging and damn, what a thrill ride. It's The Hunger Games/Battle Royale meets Parasite meets They Shoot Horses Don't They and I loved it. Some of it was a bit predictable for me, while some stuff caught me off guard. Great art direction and visual style.
HoYeon Jung is my newest crush.

Well, I'm gonna check it out now since you mentioned it. I'm going to ignore the trailer cause Netflix spoils too much.

Great show up until the last episode. Such a disappointing twist and ending.

Okay, so i'm gonna guess that this becomes fastest binged show ever on Netflix. If someone decides to check this out DO NOT watch the trailer. I'm glad I went in blind.

Ep1-5 - Hooked, fascinated fun. Hunger Games, Survivor, Lost, dare I say Oldboy... also love Speeders mention of They Shoot Horses Don't They. It blows up our competitive, culled, indebted age and hones the great quote (that opens one of Netflix's Marianne eps) : "Children's games are not games."
Ep6-9 - Marbles ep felt overlong, all the VIP stuff awful and cliche, and the ending wasn't satisfying. It played on me just like Netflix mini from this year The Innocent did - really taken by it, even as it slowly flattens out.
All in all, entertaining show, good cast, good music (composer of Parasite).

Just binged this over the weekend. Best TV show I've seen this year! Everyone involved should take a bow.

I liked it. One of the best mini series to come out in recent times. Original in concept, intense in it's storytelling. Great sets and the acting is pretty good too. The twist might be a bit hard to digest but it is what it is.

Just finished episode 6. Goddamn that was an intense, amazing episode. The show in general is so well done - South Korea continues to put out some fantastic, bonkers content. Really hope it pulls it off with the last few episodes - I've heard mixed things.

Echoing the sentiment that was disappointed with the season finale. The reveals of the creator and the front man were anticlimactic to me. The VIP stuff, ugh. Other than that, good show, one that’s horrifying of course

I'm honestly concerned that elementary school kids have watched Squid Game, not because I think they'll be influenced to do bad stuff, but because it's so brutal and heavy

Like others, I'm very disappointed with the stupid vips and finale reveal but holy hell the first six episodes are some of the best things I've seen in any medium. My god! I can't believe it took me so long to start this show. Finished it at one go. I'll pretend to ignore those Vips mainly due to how strong and just plain awesome the concept and the first 6 episodes are. Kudos to everyone involved except those who wrote the lines of the vips. Cannot wait for the next season.

So apparently there are squid game videos on YouTube kids that my 5-year-old started watching. They aren’t violent per se, the players get “eliminated” but I still told him I didn’t want him watching them. And of course, he responded like he does to anything I say no to.

Two episodes in and this is a fucking nightmare in the best possible way. The first episode was good, and it needed to focus on the one character before spreading out... but episode 2 is the real start of things, showing all of the characters and their mad, animalistic desperation. I am having trouble telling some characters apart (all Koreans look the same to me unless I'm intimately familiar with them), but that isn't a fault of the show.
That repeated match cut of all the different characters at the end was haunting, man.

Episode 3Dammit, I'm actually enjoying the reality show element to this. Alliances! Ingenuity! Teamwork! This has all the fun of discovering cool contestants on Survivor without the baggage of every contestant making me want to bludgeon their skulls in. Also, this has the added... bonus... of watching people get brutally murdered when they lose... But with Survivor, I want that to happen, and that isn't the case here. Where The Hunger Games focused on the desperation of the contestants (and Battle Royale was just irredeemably violent garbage), Squid Game balances that with the sense of watching your favorite contestants search for ways to win. It does make for queasy viewing - I feel weird about enjoying this episode so much after the abject horror of the second one - but it works. The Metal Gear Solid stuff going on with the girls and the cop and the guy getting secret messages is all really cool too, cementing this as a damn fine piece of entertainment. Let's hope the show can keep this up.
