Jessica Chastain, aged 33 to 42 from 2010-2019, has starred in over 24 movies. This being pretty much her first decade in film-acting (Her debut is in 2008 where she got an ' Introducing...' credit, what do you consider is her best performance? Most underrated role? In the last poll for Jake Gyllenhaal, the chosen best performance is without doubt Nightcrawler with 29 out of 38 votes. Others: Denzel Washington - Fences (67%) Tom Hanks - Captain Phillips (74%) Christian Bale - The Fighter (49%) Leonardo DiCaprio - The Wolf of Wall Street (67%) Brad Pitt - Moneyball (36%) Amy Adams - Arrival (41%) Natalie Portman - Black Swan (62%) Joaquin Phoenix - The Master (67%) Tom Hardy - The Revenant (42.5%), Locke (32.5%) Jake Gyllenhaal - Nightcrawler (76%), Prisoners (16%)

Tree of Life easily for both film and performance.

Salome is her best performance by far. She's also pretty great in Zero Dark Thirty, Take Shelter and Miss Sloane. But, aside from her performance in Jolene, nothing else I've seen from her really stood out. She has five great performances, but everything else is pretty meh.
As for her filmography it isn't very good, Coriolanus is probably my favourite and there are a couple more films I really like, but most films I've seen her in were pretty mediocre for me.

Salome is her best performance by far. I think it's a performance that very few American actress could have even given tbh - and it's arguably her debut if I'm not mistaken (I may be) - I think it was partially shot in 2006 in some scenes maybe (?) but Pacino held onto it for years because of his..........um.........eccentricities........... ......... fearless performance.....and probably one that only a non-movie star actor could give because she's not afraid to look foolish........an "established star actress" I doubt would be that "in the moment" as she is there.....

Take Shelter for performance, although she has a few other very good ones in the mix.
The Martian would technically be her best film of the last decade for me, but she's not an important enough character to be central to what made it great. So of the films where she is central / important, Take Shelter would again take the edge for me.
In terms of performances, I'd give her an underrated mention for The Debt.

Zero Dark Thirty. I still think that should have been her Oscar.

It's easy to overlook what a good decade she had (packed with a bunch of duds). Here are my top 5 in order.
1. Take Shelter 2. Zero Dark Thirty 3. A Most Violent Year 4. The Tree of Life 5. Molly's Game
HM: The Debt
