Feel like I already need to re-watch tonights episode. I enjoyed the whole thing for the most part, but the ending kind of made it all click.
Really have no idea what's gonna happen next week.

More masterpiece-level stuff. That missile scene at the end was one of the most stunning things the show has ever done, especially when combined with that music. Loved the bath scene at the beginning as well, which just felt so perfectly Leftovers.
Now, please don't fuck it all up with the finale, Lindelof.

I have a bulged disc in my back right now, so I decided to binge watch this show since I have nothing better to do, and holy shit, this may be my favorite show of all time. Midway through season 3 right now and I love it.

So the only one whose story arc needs wrapping up is nora. More or less, I'd say. From what little we know of the finale, it seems that it will be a Nora-focused episode. Or maybe equal parts Nora and Kevin, would be my guess.

Well I loved the finale. Got me pretty damn emotional. I couldn't ask for much more. That last shot was perfect.

HBO's plot synopsis, "Nothing is answered. Everything is answered. And then it ends." sums it up just about perfectly.
For me, the most surprising thing was just how unambiguous it was. It confirmed Matt's and Laurie's fates, and, far beyond that, we (sort of) got the answer to the central mystery that I always thought would go unanswered. Even though I do find that a tad bothersome, I really, really loved how this ended. A high-concept epic boiled down to a simple love story for its conclusion. The Matt and Nora goodbye scene, the "I've Got Dreams to Remember" dance, and of course the final two scenes are some of the most unshakably powerful moments of a series filled with such emotion from beginning to end. At the end of the day, Kevin and Nora, who had spent four years together desperately searching for answers and secluding themselves from each other, finally reached the mutual understanding that they just needed each other. For a series that's so often cynical, it was the perfect choice to take the happy ending route. The characters, and the audience, deserve it, after the emotionally strenuous journey to get there.

How did we get the answer? There's no way of confirming that Nora is telling the truth. I think that's the whole point. Kevin takes her at her word and that's what matters.

Yeah, I know, I was wrong last night because Nora's story totally convinced me. I didn't doubt it until I saw all of the theories floating around the Internet. So obviously there's still a huge degree of ambiguity to the ending -- though the writers still gave us an answer, which I never thought they would even go that far. But I love the idea that it's up to us to decide if it's the answer.

All that Kevin really cared about is that she made the realization that her place was with him, not with the family she had lost. A really beautiful moment. I love this ending the more I think about it.

I would say the finale of 2 is my favourite episode of the series too, one of the best episodes of any tv show that I've seen. Regina King would probably be my pick for the most underrated performance of the whole series. "Homeward Bound" was my favourite moment too, sometimes I almost tear up if I get into a conversation about it.

Episodes:
1. International Assassin 2. I Live Here Now 3. The Book of Nora 4. Two Boats and a Helicopter 5. No Room at the Inn
Performances: [GOAT level] 1. Carrie Coon 2. Christopher Eccleston 3. Justin Theroux - 4. Regina King - sorely missed in season 3, though her one appearance was fantastic 5. Kevin Carroll - even though he wasn't given anything to do in season 3, outside of one good scene (his conversation with Laurie outside Grace's house)
Moments:
Very tough to choose.
1. Homeward Bound- like moonman, just thinking of this gives me goosebumps 2. "I'm here." 3. The well. 4. "Holy shit." 5. "I killed you."

Gotta be honest: as beautiful as this finale was (and it was, indeed, beautiful), and as phenomenal as Carrie Coon's soliloquy was at the end, I still really would've loved to have seen that world. It deserved an episode like "International Assassin." But I understand that with a truncated season, they had to make do, and I think they stuck the landing marvelously. Also had a feeling that Laurie didn't kill herself, a suspicion that was bolstered by her absence in the penultimate episode when Kevin was dicking about in the other realm.
I do wish that characters like Tom and Jill and the Murphys were given more shrift this season, but again, they had to make the best with what they had.
Anyway, top five episodes:
1. International Assassin 2. Crazy Whitefella Thinking 3. Two Boats and a Helicopter 4. I Live Here Now 5. It's a Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt World HM: The Most Powerful Man in the World (and His Identical Twin Brother)
Top five performances:
1. Christopher Eccleston 2. Carrie Coon 3. Ann Dowd 4. Justin Theroux 5. Scott Glenn HM. Bill Camp for fucking crushing it in his brief screentime.
Top five moments:
1. The well. 2. "Homeward Bound." 3. The bombs drop. 4. Nora/Erika processing scene. 5. Matt tries to get back into Miracle via the sewers. HM: Kevin confesses to Nora about seeing Patti Levin and "that he just made a big mistake."

It deserved an episode like "International Assassin." This is making a big assumption that that world actually exists though, right? I think it would have kind of ruined the show's central mystery personally though I can imagine that it would have made for compelling tv, visually especially.

True, and as Iris DeMent said, it's best that the show "let the mystery be." Still, though, imagine the Emmy tape Coon would've had.

Right from the very opening scene she was incredible. Whole episode played like an extended Emmy tape.

I do wish that characters like Tom and Jill and the Murphys were given more shrift this season, but again, they had to make the best with what they had. That was my only real gripe with the season. Like I don't see why the show couldn't have brought Tom and Jill along to Australia at least. I know they were never the highlights of the show, but I was still invested enough in the characters to wanna see more of them. And I really loved the Murphys as well. I'm still shocked by how much the season 2 premiere was able to draw me in in spite of 90% of it focusing on characters I was meeting for the frist time. They were such a great addition to the show, but at least we know that they all ended up doing okay (except Evie obviously)

Yeah, I love how open it is to the viewer if you believe Nora or not, though it all comes down to one thing: Kevin believes her and that's all that matters. What a powerful moment.
