There has been a number of these types of threads that have been made thru out this year but because of all the release dates being changed or pushed back , I thought I'd start a new thread .
I'm curious to know what your most anticipated films are for the remainder of 2021. Feel free to list as many as you want. In fact I encourage it cause I have been so out of the loop at what's coming out in 2021 and what is not (there has been so much re scheduling that I can't keep track of it all)
Here is mine...
1. DUNE (by far my most anticipated film. No contest actually. I have lost count on how many times I've viewed the trailer on Youtube. It looks utterly incredible and you bet your ass I'm going to see this on opening day/on the biggest screen possible. ) On 10/22/2021 "Let's fight like demons.")
2. The Green Night ( The trailer was masterfully done and something out of left field as well as epic. I dig the cast and David Lowery is a director that looks like he taking no prisoners here with this film. He's going for broke. Oh and it is being released in theaters pretty soon which is awesome! Can't wait to catch it in theaters sometime soon.)
3. Don't Look Up ( It has Leonardo Dicaprio starring in it and he is usually really good at picking projects so I'm in. Not too crazy about Adam McKay who can be a bit hit or miss but the premise sounds interesting enough about a comet approaching Earth. The rest of the cast is LOADED too but again, my main interest in this film jumped when I heard Leo was going to be in it. Good enough for me)
4. The Last Duel (Damon & Affleck re teaming together in a Sir Ridley Scott period piece?! Uh yes please! Hope its good)
5. Last Night in Soho (Recently saw the trailer and it looks right up my alley. Like a trippy mind fuck and of course Edgar Wright rules.)
6. No Time to Die (Can't wait to see Daniel Craig's final film as 007 on the big screen. I am intrigued with how Cary Fukunaga approaches this . Should be good!)
7. Antlers ( I dig Scott Cooper as a director and this looks pretty fucked up which is a plus. Oh and you can't go wrong with Jesse Plemons. He plays some local sheriff in it. Looks like a promising / original horror film.)
8. Violence of Action (Not familiar with the director but it does re team Chris Pine with Ben Foster which is awesome cause they had outstanding chemistry together in Hell or High Water. This is being described as sort of a Special Forces action/thriller. The title is sorta cringe but the film could surprise. Either way, I am intrigued by it.)
9. The Card Counter (I dig anything that Paul Schrader is involved in. Add in Oscar Issac & Dafoe mixed in with an out there premise and I am very intrigued!)
10. Top Gun : Maverick (The trailers make it look like there are some jaw dropping flight sequences in this. I liked the 1st Top Gun starring Tom Cruise enough to give this sequel a shot in possibly IMAX if the reviews are good. Also I dig Joseph Kosinski 's work with TRON : Legacy so I hope he has some tricks up his sleeve with this Top Gun sequel as well)
