Since my first 30 Days Of World Cinema thread gained some very positive feedback and there is enough interest from most for me to do another one, I've decided to hold a similar thread this year as well (it will be in November like last year, if all goes well). I've already made a list of countries from which a film will be presented, 25 of them will be countries that weren't featured last year (including some big omissions like France, Italy, India, South Korea and USA) and three more will be featured again (Greece, for obvious reasons, Japan and Egypt). So I still have two places left to fill and I was hoping that those two could be decided through this poll. So, I'll give you a choice between eight countries (Bulgaria, Brazil, Cuba, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iran and Tajikistan) and you can choose the two that most interest you, so I could recommend a film from.

Not that this pertains to your (great) series but I feel I'm totally missing horror from Argentina and Brazil - I've talked on this board about a couple really impressive films imo A Wolf At The Door (from Brazil) and my current #1 in 2021 History of the Occult from Argentina and you can tell they follow tropes of their own countries genre films.
You can just tell there's a whole series of films here that I probably have never heard of at all - The Last Matinee which I think is Argentina maybe (?) is getting played in the US too atm

I'm really looking forward to History of the Occult; idk any great Argentine horrors... I've seen If I Die Before I Wake (1952) a 72m Cornell Woolrich adaptation that's almost but not quite horror. One I've wanted to see but haven't found yet - Nazareno Cruz and the Wolf (1975). As for Brazil - there's one that's 7/10ish for me Angel of the Night (1974), I like how it's made and built tho it's familiar ground and only available in a really shoddy copy . Haven't seen the Coffin Joe movies, but he's got a great cult fanbase, like a dozen movies, and he seems a bit like our beloved Phibes!!

Well, not great but I think (in theory) the much praised - um ok only (sort of) by me - two Onetti Brothers films I've seen are actually Argentinian (Abrakadbra and Francesca) ........they are kind of baffling - Francesca in particular because it's in Italian - and I think both of those are co-productions but I am pretty sure they're Argentinian. I am pretty sure Cristian Ponce said something once about what he liked about Francesca .......or maybe I'm remembering that through rose colored glasses because I just want somebody else to like them in any way whatsoever

pacinoyes you know I'm not really a big fan of the horror genre and I'm missing a lot of horror films from those countries as well, but I have planned to include a film for horror fans (it's mostly a suspense thriller than a true horror film, but it's pretty great nevertheless) from a country that has consistently delivered great genre films.

Anyway, to the OP, this series looks very exciting. I went with Iran and Germany. However it goes, I just look forward to seeing some fresh cinema.
