English isn't my strengh. And I guess, shortes quotes are easier to understand than a hundred lines.
Still because I want to share why I think is a comeback, Now I will write part of my papyrus here.-
Born in a dysfuntional family, shared in foster homes, raped, and having an abortion at 14, Morton's life was a hell until her talent provided money and a home. Not longer she was cast in Brittish series like Soldier Soldier and then Band of Gold, where she portrayed orphans with easy life. Soon she started to get better roles on TV, first as the "ugly" friend of Kate Beckinsale in Emma, but then the main star of more aristocratics romantic TV films and miniseries like Jane Eyre and Tom Jones.
Then she made a succesful transition to the Angry Indie Brittish Film, thanks to the rave reviews of Under The Skin. After that Hollywood wanted, first Winona Ryder in Girl Interrupted, Sam turned down and Angelina Jolie Took the role and the stardom.-
And then by Woody Allen in Sweet and Lowdown, her first oscar nom. That year was extremely difficult for that cathegory and Jolie won.
Still she was the new promise, and as a star she was in every big indie proyect with the best of Hollywood, for most of the films she received recognitions, awards and nominations, her most important work was Movern Callar directed by then relative unknown Lynne Ramsay.
She also show her wonderful vagina in Code 46, with Tim Robbins, not a favourite of her.-
Also she was choosen by Steven Spielberg for the main lead in Minority Report opposite Tom Cruise, Max Von Sydow and Colin Farrell.-
In 2004 received her seccond Oscar Nomination this time as best actress for In America. She lost against other bombshell Charlize Theron. Still she was one of Hollywood hottest artistic properties, but that year started her downfall.
She had trouble with her peers, with directors and specially Harvey Weinstein, on the sets of the Libertine with Johnny Depp and John Malkovich (what a trio, a dream or a nightmare for every director in 2004) and specially in the The Brothers Grimm, where she was fired, apparently for not being slim enough, and was replaced by Harvey for Lena Headey, pre-Game of Thrones. (no Cersei-Jamie jokes here) against the cast and the director.
Still she continue to working with Weinstein because most directors and critics loved her, she won a Golden Globe and an Emmy Nom for Longford. But he managed a bad press of bad behaviour around her, and he definitive not push her enough for the Academy Award. She started to be snub by the Academy by her acclaimed roles in Control, SNY and specially the Messanger. After two Oscar nominations in the early of her career, as many other actress, until today wasn't Oscar nominated again.-
Her movie career was in trouble she received bad press from the NZ filmakers of River Queen, because of the delay she lost her role as Harper Lee in Capote (seccond Oscar nomination for her 1999 Oscar contender Catherine Keener).-
The black legend of newzies is legendary. No more comments.
The she was fired from a Colin Farrell movie, and then she lost at the last minute the role of Arbus, because Nicole Kidman wanted it. Devil Harvey then asked Kidman to praise Morton in a critic review, for a role, that at the end wasn't oscar nominated. Should be not the first time she was replaced by an actress. Years later she lost the voice role in favour of the much more money maker Scarjo (who also made another film that was called also Under the Skin).-
Not only but also she suffered an stroke, that ended her days a young Hollywood leading lady.
But with every downhill there is redemption, and Samantha fell in love with the man of her life Harry Holm, son of the great Ian Holm.
She had a child with him, and have being fiances for many years. Now with a solid family a much more calm Morton could focus in her arts as actress, director and screen writter.-
After being Ian Holm daugther in law all the bad press vanished Then she focuse on indie films and on short term series and TV Films. She also had a part in a J.K. Rowling film, with former leading men in desgrace Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell.-
Still she was never got the roles that she used to get, even the ones she get, are dream roles for every Academy Award Nominee or Winner (which name isn't Nicole, Charlize, Meryl, Cate, Kate or Scarjo). She returned to longer TV series with success in Harlots about brittish rich courtesans on the 18 C. and as Alpha, the main villain in in The Walking Dead. I guess she was one the first 90s actresses that realised that money was on TV. Still Harlot wasn't Downtown Abbey (despite the fact of having Jessica Brown Findlay) and even when Alpha increase the ratings, TWD wasn't as used to be.-
On films she had supporting but juicy in interesting proyects like Cosmopolis (directed by Cronomberg with Robert Pattinson) or Miss Julie (directed by Liv Ullman with Farrell and Jessica Chastain).
Her Career was more than OK, but hadn't the glory past. She wasn't more the pretty leading lady, she was a little overweighted, or muscular with the hair shaved . Her daugther Esme (from a previous relatioship with a male model actor) born i 2000, had a hit in her own Hannah (Poor Saoirse Ronan, mother and daughter were better than her in two different roles).-
Esme is more beautiful than her mother never was, and probably one day will be a leading actress. So I guess my hopes where on the daughter, while Samantha will portray her mother for many years like Romy and Magda Schneider (Until one day a big feud appears).-
However this prospect could change, thanks to the new proyects.
The first looks a little unispired as a woman who tries to save a film theatre. The director is a little unknown, but at least she has the main lead and Jonathan Pryce co-stars.-
So that's what's her career looks until now, a former Oscar Nominee, who has leading roles on TV and Supporting on films, as bigger the budget is, slimer is her role. But her ethernal fiancee Harry Holm is a wealthy heir, and her daughter Esme (from a previous relationship with a model/actor) is a promising actress, extremely beautiful.
So she is consolidated, but her prosprect untli now is being the Magda Schneider of Esme Creed Miles. If her daughter one day will become a star, she will portray her mother forever (or until they would have a legendary feud).-
However I read that she has 3 interesting proyects that could change her faith, and maybe she will have the welcome comeback to the Stardom.
The seccond looke at first a mix between Reign with the Spanish Princess, and I was ughhh. Until I heard the name Ludivine Sangnier and was shooted in France and I was enlighted by this. At least there are film French locations and part of the cast is French, oh la la.-
And then I realese that Catherine wasn't the Red Queen, or The White Queen or just an Spanish Princess, but a woman, who ruled France for 30 years.
This looks epic, a series for many years, about religion battles, Morton was raised as catholic, also she already had a cameo as Mary Queen of Scots (whose mother in Law was Catherine) in the Elizabeth Sequel.-
Catherine de Medicis was a brave woman, a maquiavelous, rich, but without the elegance of other princess of her time (despite the fact she was a Capetian from her mother side, so probably was more a black legend against her after long after her death). Despite Morton being Brittish and not Italian or French, and I always complain on this, I think is a great choice, because I guess she has several things in common with her character. A woman who was humiliated from the day she was born, who wants revange.-
Like Catherine she wasn't the belle or the main star, despite of being the Queen of France/or Two times Oscar Nominee, and now she should do everything to protect her children.-
Still the most interesting proyect is the one with the Black Swan director, that could earn an Oscar nom for Fraser and maybe for Morton too. For what I read, Fraser left his family for a man, and now that he is death, he return to home to reconciliated with his daugther. Morton should play the ex Wife.-
