I haven't seen the new one. I liked the first one much more than the sequel.

The first one is a very effective, impressive horror. The second one is surprisingly even better (and my choice) cause it doesn't rely on scares only but actually develop its main characters. It's somewhat less dark but it works. That "Can't Help Falling in Love with You" moment is unusually sweet for a horror film. Third one, however, is a missed opportunity. Interesting premise, it could be something like "Exorcism of Emily Rose" but it just doesn't work, the pacing is off and atmosphere is not there. Can't believe James Wan trusted Michael Chaves to do this right after that "La Llorona" disaster. That said, yes, I'd be interested in a fourth movie because I love to see Patrick and Vera together. Only I hope this time Wan will be back or at least will give the material to someone like David Sandberg.

The first is still strongest and is very good, but the second more than holds it own and isn't that much lesser of a film than the first.
The third is unfortunately too messy. I think the close quarters of the first two films made each of them work really well, whereas the third was kinda all over the place location wise and character wise and it came off as unfocused. It was also a little too glossy and effects laden for my liking too. The first one seemed realistic by comparison, and the second wasn't too over the top in that regard either. Also, the first and especially the second really made you care about the families in peril, whereas I couldn't have cared less about the non Warren characters in the third.
If a fourth is coming, I'd like to see them go back to basics.
