FYC - Signs of Life (1968) Herzog's debut, worth a watch and ties to so many of his career themes... and appreciates our polls:

Sent. 1 from Mexico, 1 from Japan, 1 from USA, 22 from Europe, my 9 next runner-ups are also from Europe. I almost feel a bit dirty but it just serves as a reminder to how out of breath US American cinema was at this point and how innovative European cinema was. Not having more films from Latin America and SE-Asia might be on me though.
Looking back Kubrick, Welles, Fuller and co. fleeing to Europe makes so much sense lol.

I'm gonna send in a ballot now so I'm not in a situation like last time where I gotta rush it at the end. Will just edit my ballot later if I need to. Some FYCs:
Band of Outsiders Weekend La Chinoise The Virgin Spring The Cremator Terra em Transe Contempt A Woman is a Woman The Servant The Great Silence

August bump! I plan on closing this in... late October, early November? No strict deadline yet. Just a note for those who want to check out the amazing Blind Beast (1969) - that comes out on DVD end of the month - I know a lot of people are curious about it and as far as I know only one other MAR person has seen it since I raved it a few months back........it should be more easy to watch by end of this month

I'm gonna start sending friendly reminders to everyone that has participated in this thread, if they have not yet voted. Don't feel targeted if you receive one - I haven't even formed my own ballot yet. But I'd rather get as many votes in as possible from people that want to participate, and with one month to go, I feel that now is a good time to start notifications.

Three days left! I'm trying to get enough ballots that we don't have anything getting in one just one ballot.
So far, our leader has changed five times, between three different films. Any guesses as to what they may be?

I’ll be sending mine right near the deadline. I’m trying to watch as many movies as I can.
My guess is the movies are 2001, Psycho and Lawrence.

I'm gonna start sending out review requests today. I've procrastinated and just realized that I haven't even sorted the people willing to review yet, so maybe it's best to get on that. The plan is to hold the ceremony on Black Friday, or perhaps the day after? I'll take input on whatever is best for y'all.
