Dog Day Afternoon - single greatest perf...by anyone... and the movie doesn't ever slack around him. 10/10 and a worthy placement; imagine... daring then, daring now... and it always gives...watch it alone it plays very deeply, watch it with an audience and you'll see how much humor is snuck in tooJust rewatched it recently with my wife who had never seen it before. She ended up loving it (more than I expected) and was laughing non-stop through the whole thing.

Taxi Driver (1976) Director: Martin Scorsese 442 points from 27 ballots Highest Placement: #1 on 1 ballot
I always say movies, at their best are about right now - not the past, not the future - imagine walking into a theater in 1976 in NYC and seeing this and then walking out in the street that matches the film - it's the perfect example of the setting being everything......

The Godfather: Part II (1974) Director: Francis Ford Coppola 448 points from 24 ballots Highest Placement: #1 on 3 ballots
I actually rank this as Pacino's best performance - ahead of Dog Day and Angels in America.......I had this at number 4 - surprised only 24 ballots? Hmmmmmmm

Coppola's 70s streak/peak is unreal (and he was a phenomenal filmmaker outside of the 70s too, that's right)..... unreal bc it's never been bettered.... and we vote him #7 behind some names that shouldn't even be exhaled in the same room as Him.

Apocalypse Now is the biggest monumental achievement by FFC. A film so unreal that it almost seems impossible to conceive. Thanks a lot for the hard work themoviesinner! I loved all of this.

I think that this is proof that the 70s were the peak of cinema. By the way, I know it's early, but I'm willing to do a 1960s poll if there is interest in it.
