An Asian actress/director/writer would be nice. Gong Li comes to my mind first but there are a lot who deserve that place.

She won Best Actress at the 2004 festival for her performance in Assayas' Clean, and her likeness was used for the poster for the 2006 festival: I think that Juliette Binoche (France) will probably be the next female President, though.

Rita Blanco from PortugalExcellent choice! I don't think many people here know her, but she's one of Portugal's very best actresses, and a few years ago she played a small role in Michael Haneke's Amour. She also has a great sense of humour, I love seeing her on tv and reading her interviews.

Ann Hui could be another great choice. One of the few successful female directors in Asia, along with Kawase.

I think Sandra Milo could be a terrific choice. She has worked with the best Italian directors of the golden era, she is incredibily educated and he's also a poetess. However it will never happen, she's too edgy and is not treated that great by media.

Cheung's retired, so her chances of being asked are probably very low. I'm surprised that Deneuve has never been asked. I'd say her or Binoche are next, if not someone like Nicole Kidman.

It’s so odd that they’ve never asked Deneuve. Varda obviously should’ve been president one time as well.

Adèle Haenel feels like someone who can preside over Cannes in maybe 15 years or so. Maggie Cheung or Gong Li would be great choices, as would someone like Dench or Jodie Foster. Frances McDormand would probably fit right in too. Claire Denis would be a great pick too.
