... on live television and now that we've had a few months, is it cool to like that movie again? I really hope so; it was sort of a bummer how I was only allowed to like it for about three days before Twitter descended.

The over the top hate for that movie was so random. I can understand someone not liking any movie, but there seemed to be this visceral negative reaction amongst some people that no one seemed to articulate.

It was cool to like the movie even with the ridiculous backlash.

I think it will be remembered more fondly because it didn't win BP, as it's harder to call it overrated and easier to sympathise with it considering the fuck up.
The backlash was indeed kind of ridiculous. Probably similar to what something like Titanic experienced, though on a smaller scale.

I personally love the film, but even if I didn't, I think it's almost impossible to call it without value, and outright hate it.

My opinion of it never changed. I fell in love with the first time I saw it. Most of the negative criticisms ("white savior of jazz," etc) are bullshit and have been repeatedly and soundly defeated. I guess some people just don't like this kind of movie. They're either purists who think the movie is unoriginal and shallow, just people who don't like musicals, or people that are reading way too much into the film's supposed politics and completely missing the bigger picture and universal human themes.

My mind never changed on it. It's still one of my top twenty favorites. That was harsh what happened, but I'm still happy that Moonlight surprised. Hopefully that means we get more studios taking risks on more smaller, modest fare.

It's a great film backlash (some of the complaints were ridiculous), or not IMO.

The truth is that the complaints were petty. All BP frontrunners run into it anymore, only with slight variations. LLL might have run into it abit more though since musicals are so polarizing. I personally felt it was the best film of last year. I'd say its more than cool: its white hot.

Still think it's shit.
Songs are a myriad of meh, Stone is Stone and Gosling is Gosling. Their evolution is shallow, their split rests on ridiculously flimsy reasoning. Just awfully unwarranted of it's success.

Movies haven't been gripping me lately, last year had me fall off the wagon and this year I've only liked Get Out and Logan. I watched Miss Sloane last night though which I thought was pretty sharp. Going back to see 20th Century Women, Paterson and Elle over the next few days. Talk soon!
