Don't really have any problem with remakes tbh if all parties agree. If it doesn't work out, the original is always there. If it does, great and any which way, it will get more attention to the original. Besides, we get to see multiple actors/directors put their own spin on a story which is always exciting. So, yeah I'm in 🙈

Better that than an American remake of Quo Vadis, Aida?, I suppose.

What is the fucking point of this? We NEED this. Like we need a Toni Erdmann remake.

Good God thoughts if Nolan goes much more small scale and directs this, with a strong psychological thriller element to it? I think it's much more likely Nolan resurrects his Howard Hughes biopic and signs DiCaprio up for that one than for DiCaprio to consider Nolan for something like this or for Nolan to seriously consider doing this. But hypothetically, I don't think Nolan is right for this. Nolan can do a lot of things, some perhaps better than anyone working right now, but I don't think he has the sensibility or the right humor for this kind of movie. But, hey, what do I know, I just suggested Greta Gerwig for this project Nolan isn't gonna cast DiCaprio in the Howard Hughes biopic if it ever happens (unlikely). He'll want to distance it from The Aviator, not make The Aviator 2.

I finally got around to Another Round. It's good but I have no idea why it needs a remake with big stars. It's not very commercial.

Imagine the lead to be played by Giamatti... and he'll be nominated for it... in a Dicaprio-produced film

I guess the campaign for Adam Sandler to be the lead starts now.

I'm starting to think Chris Rock getting slapped by Will Smith was some illuminati style humiliation ritual he had to go through to get him to the next level in Hollywood . Because it's very weird how post-slap, he's suddenly being treated like some A-list, prestige director. First Steven Spielberg taps him to direct a Martin Luther King biopic, now DiCaprio is getting him to direct a prestige, Oscar winning European remake that he was attached to star in. Like, why is Rock suddenly getting these kind of super prestige directing opportunities from the Hollywood A-list . He's directed 3 comedies, the only one which recieved a good critical reception was Top Five and that was 9 years ago, so it's not like he even has any current momentum as a director. Very strange. I can think of about a 100 directors more obviously qualified to direct an MLK biopic than Rock.

Not to mention the last movie he had any sort of creative hand behind lately was his attempt to "reinvigorate" the Saw franchise with fucking Spiral. A shit movie that cost more than any other Saw movie and did bad business - I'll give it a slight break with COVID but fucking Tom & Jerry grossed 3x as much 3 months earlier despite being day-and-date on HBO Max. He's being grandfathered in like some great artistic talent when the last time he was part of anything great was being the weirdest feature on Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
