Finally, it's been ages since Little Children And Cate is on fire: Del Toro, Gray, McKay, and now Field's comeback? Whoa

Blanchett wants absolutely the third Oscar, and rightly so.

how nice of him to come out of retirement after 100 years. Maybe he can bring Bennett Miller with him.

From The World of Reel - again - some news after having Tragedy of Macbeth news earlier this week ...... www.worldofreel.com/blog/2021/8/w6qzpqaest8yqie6mejzoq5ds1dupwWriter-Director Todd Field hasn’t made a film since “Little Children” (2006) and, before that, his incendiary debut “In the Bedroom” (2001). Whatever happened to him since 2006 is a mystery to me. Both films garnered eight Oscar nominations in total, the former actor was heralded as a major new voice and then, poof, he was gone. Regardless, Cate Blanchett is set to team up with Field for the filmmaker’s next picture. She’ll star in “TAR,” a drama that Field wrote and will direct. The plot is currently being kept under wraps, but today we got a nice unofficial indicator that production will start shooting on September 6th in Berlin.

And he seems to do it rather often. Only saying this so that you won't think that he's got some secret sources or something - it's all in plain sight if one reads AW

Fnck no.........never........... I mean I firmly believe it would be nice if Awardswatch weirdos STARTED A FNCKING THREAD FOR MOVIE INFO like that ^ but alas, nope they don't, they keep it to themselves like it's gold........ but when somebody cool posts it here ..... boy they will have no problem telling me "what they believe" when they "think" they broke a story first....... Personally I think he's got secret sources tbh .........at least as much as Will Mavity

Focus Features has set a release date : October 7, 2022
Mark Strong has joined the cast.
And they gotta great editor, Monika Willi, who’s done the bulk of Haneke (Piano Teacher, Funny Games, White Ribbon, Amour)

In the Bedroom is my favorite film of 2001 (and one of my favorite films of the 2000s overall) also Little Children is one of my favorite films of 2006. I'm so happy to hear that Todd Fields is back!

What a brilliant teaser that was ......

This might be the most pointless and prentious "teaser" I've ever seen . A minute and a half of smoke coming out of Cate Blanchett's mouth in a still frame, and a few more more seconds of her conducting an orchestra. 2+ minutes of nothing much. I dunno. This movie might well be great (no evidence so far), but I hope to god the next trailer is substantial, because that thing did not need to be that long.

Literally rewatched In the Bedroom yesterday (so damn good) and Little Children a few days before that (fine AF as well) so this teaser popping up was a nice surprise. I hope Field doesn't too 'artsy' in this one as the teaser seems to indicate because the thing that's so terrific about his other two movies is his ability to present more-or-less grounded material in an elevated way without going all film-school-student on us. Not huge on this teaser but I can't wait for the film itself - those other two he did are really strong. And Cate the Great is totally gonna murder this one (in the best of ways).
