O'Toole and Burton were foreigners, too, as far as the Oscars are concerned.

It's actually insane when you think about it. Going from bad German soap operas and some bad TV movies, to winning an Oscar. The guy was literally an unknown, not even that famous in his own country (and even if he was, showbusiness in Germany, especially in the soap opera business, is laughable).

Well, like Christoph Waltz I'm from Austria (in fact even from Vienna, the same city) and I've seen a few of his work on TV, but not that much. I've always found that he had talent though and he was remarkable in "Der Tanz mit dem Teufel".
