Classic leading man of the 60's and 70's, and then he made a lot of bad mistakes before reinventing himself as an older sarcastic grandpa type on TV. I thought he was especially terrific in Altman's California Split. RIP Mr. Segal.

RIP.
Although The Goldbergs has really dropped in quality over the last few seasons, he still elevated it even when the rest of the cast either was too old or were just mainly phoning it in.

I only watched the show sporadically, but even then I could tell he was one of the more consistently enjoyable aspects about it.

RIP to a very fine actor. My favorite performance of his was King Rat, where he played a WWII POW that could find and sell anything to other prisoners.
And even though the script is very dated and offensive in parts, he had a wonderful chemistry with Denzel Washington in his big screen debut Carbon Copy. Not a great film, but the best thing about the movie was how well Washington and Segal worked together as a comedic pairing.

Not a great film, best thing about the movie was how well Washington and Seagal worked together as a comedic pairing. I think of all of the movies he did, a personal favorite of mine is Who Is Killing The Great Chefs of Europe?! Fun little mystery comedy with a bit of a dark twist that nobody really seems to talk about anymore. Also liked The King Rat shoutout, that's a good little WWII flick. Funny enough for the longest time I assumed it was a British production because of the supporting cast and crew, but actually it was the first Hollywood film for English director Bryan Forbes, and primarily shot in California.

RIP to Mr. Segal
First time I ever saw him was in the 1990s sitcom Just Shoot Me with Laura San Giacomo, Wendie Malick, and David Spade. Haven’t seen much of his film career other than Carbon Copy of course. Need to start going through his filmography.

RIP Make every effort to see Blume In Love (1973) - One of his best - funny and sad - and not yet mentioned and a tagline they wouldn't use nowadays because someone might get offended.

RIP . California Split remains one of my fav movies, where he had off the charts chemistry with Gould. He was very often a likable and generous actor.

RIP . California Split remains one of my fav movies, where he had off the charts chemistry with Gould. This interview from 2014... with Segal, Gould, and Joseph Walsh... is pretty incredible with tons of great stories/tidbits. I'm only halfway through (it's long as hell)... but really wish the whole encounter was filmed. Special shout out to The Hot Rock as well... there's no one I'd rather have talk me into a robbery. Rest easy, legend.

He'll always be Jack Gallo to me. I was thinking about how I was really introduced to him through Just Shoot Me (and Look Who’s Talking) and mainly knew him from that show for the longest time. It wasn’t until later into college that I got exposed to his film work from the 70’s.
