Easily one of my favorite actors working today. He has two big films in the works with both Don't Look Up and of course Killers of the Flower Moon.
These are some realistic roles I'd love to see him in (in the coming years)
I am curious to know what roles you think he should take on. Here are my choices ...
1. The Devil in the White City (as Dr. H.H. Holmes) He would win a 2nd Oscar for this imo. I have no idea what is going on with the development of this project (hopefully Scorsese turns it into a long film instead of a mini series but who knows at this point. We shall see)
2. Leo as Teddy Roosevelt directed by Martin Scorsese is my 2nd choice (focusing on his Rough Rider years during the Spanish / American war) .
3. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (directed by David Fincher). Fincher was rejected by Disney for the longest time to try to make this remake happen. IMO if Leo were cast as the lead (Ned Land) , I think Disney would actually would give it the green lit. Dicaprio can get any project green lit at this point in his career.
4. Torso (speaking of David Fincher, he was set to direct this very gnarly graphic novel) Matt Damon was originally attached to be the lead but come on, Leo would be so much better and do the role justice imo.

I really can't see him as either Teddy Roosevelt or . . . well, who were you envisioning him as in Torso? Eliot Ness? After J. Edgar, I'd rather keep DiCaprio away from playing G-Men.
He'd be a pretty sweet Ned Land, even though I personally would like to see actual Canadian Ryan Gosling in that part.

Fortunately, I think it's the one role that DiCaprio would actually consider doing TV for, because he has said that it has long been one of his dream roles after Howard Hughes and Jordan Belfort, particularly if Scorsese decides to remain onboard. Still, the heat around that project has cooled some and Scorsese/DiCaprio aren't getting any younger, so it's becoming increasingly unlikely that it ever happens with DiCaprio in it.

I agree, i too would like to see him in The Crowded Room.
Btw according to IMBD he's planning to do Roosevelt with Scorsese, so it's likely to happen after Scorsese finishes Flower Moon. Also it's listed as a project in pre-production The Black Hand, a crime-thriller drama in which he plays Joe Petrosino, a sort of Italian Sherlock Holmes of the early 1900s, but still no director attached.
Sadly, The Devil In The White City will be a mini-series, it seems like it's unfilmable and too sprawling as a film feature.
I would like him to work in the future with PTA (he already turned him down twice), Villeneuve, Fincher and Chazelle.

And while Gosling is my favorite actor born in the 80s, he is not that big of a box office draw (esp not compared to Leo). In order for 20,000 Leagues to get made, its Leo or bust imo . Fincher wanted a massive budget and Dicaprio is the only actor that could get it green lit.

I'd love to see him finally do The Crowded Room. Oh shit how could I have forgot about this one?! Who do you have in mind directing this? It sounds very intriguing for sure.

Hey thanks for the good / insightful response. Leo NEEDS to be HH Holmes (he would crush that tole) He is literally the only actor that I could picture pulling off that role (and the only actor that could get it green lit) . It is definitely frustrating trying to follow the development of this project cause I have no clue when it''ll ever be filmed .

I think he should link up with Chazelle, Gosling, and Denzel on some kind of drama or thriller/political thriller.

I'd love to see Leo as a middle-age gay uncle in a dark comedy or playing a Bill Murray-type. Sofia Coppola, make that happen now.

bump
I'll add Leo playing Evel Knievel. I know he's been attached to that role for quite some time now but it seems like it's been put on the back burner. IMO Leo would crush that role. And just call the film Evel (not really sure who would be the best director to direct it though)

I think so too, but for now apparently on his IMBD page, the Roosevelt biopic with Scorsese is slated for a 2023 release. I highly doubt though that Scorsese will be able to shoot and make back to back both Flower Moon and this one, so maybe 2024?

Now that he appears to be quite good in DLU (with a nom a good possibility), and Flower Moon on the horizon, I'm speculating as to what's next. I can't imagine him not shooting something in 2022, yet I wonder what's available. Bong Joon-Ho's doing some English language film in the U.S. (Los Angeles I think) early next year, but I figure if Leo was doing that it would have been announced already.
