Maybe an honorary one, otherwise he doesn't seem to have much interest in making another film at all.

I see him getting the Altman treatment. No competitive wins, but an honorary one.

I wish. But he'd have to make another film for them to give him one. Either that or there is the honorary path.

Unfortunately I see him as another great who gets no competitive Oscars, but graciously accepts an honorary one.

As Lynch doesn't seem too interested in making movies anymore, the most I see him getting is an honorary Oscar

Unfortunately not. I can see him getting a Honorary Oscar in the future, but not a competitive one. Which is frustrating, because he's so gifted and there's so many material he could work on. A few days ago I finished reading The Yellow Wallpaper, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and while I was reading it I found myself thinking, several times, how Lynch would have turned it into a great film.

Like everyone else said, he'll probably get an honorary someday. If he ever makes another movie, maybe he could score one more directing nod, but it'd have to be something pretty universally lauded (and accessible) if he's gonna win, which simply isn't how Lynch films are.

To win Oscars for writing and directing you have to write and direct movies.

I can see him winning an Honorary Oscar but not a competitive one.
