Surprised we don't have a thread for this. This sounds kinda interesting. See You Yesterday was a bit flawed, but pretty cool.

Haven't seen See You Yesterday yet (I'll get round to it), but Lee obviously has a lot of faith in Bristol's potential to keep backing him as a producer. His interests seem to lean a lot more genre based and commercial than Lee, so it'll be interesting to see where his career heads. He seems like a future Marvel or DC director in the making.

I'm surprised he hasn't been snatched up for some big blockbuster film already. Obviously See You Yesterday was a bit under the radar, and arguably underpromoted by Netflix (shockers!), but it got some good notices and reviews. Not to mention he's already clearly a huge genre guy.

I'm sure he is on the radar of blockbuster producers at various studios. But it's probably a good thing for him to get more of his own original material out there to establish his style/voice, before being thrown into a place like Marvel, where your work can feel less distinct, unless you came into Marvel with a strong authorial voice to begin with (like Taika Waititi, Ryan Coogler).

Makes sense. I'd also have to imagine that it's easier for him to work with a streaming service as "workable" as Netflix, he doesn't have to worry about studio control quite as much.

That's cool that Lee is continuing to put his name behind Bristol. Seems Netflix and Lee have a good relationship. Also interesting that the producing team of Lloyd and Beatrize who brought Da 5 Bloods to Lee, brought this to him and Bristol's attention. Need to check out See You Yesterday but heard good things about it. Will be interested to see how Bristol grows as a filmmaker.

I love Jonathan Majors, but he's starting to get typecast in these Lovecraftian tales.
