I’ve just been looking over it’s awards resume recently and noticed it received nominations from Golden Globes (Best Picture Comedy/Musical), The D.G.A (Best Director, of course), The P.G.A., And Best Ensemble from S.A.G. Today a movie with that resume not getting in for a nomination would be very surprising (with the expanded Best Picture lineup), but was it in the year 2000 for Billy Elliot? Plus on a similar note Almost Famous came out at about the same time with a very similar resume (if not better), and also got no Best Picture Nomination. What was was it with the year 2000? Were movies like Billy Elliot and Almost Famous just lucky to do as well as they did with the precursors or was it a legitimate surprise that they didn’t get in? Thanks for any comments or opinions in advance!!!!

Had luck that Steven Sodebergh had 2 films for Best director
