A new project being produced by Pathe and is based on a true story. Caine plays Bernard Jordan, a real life World War 2 veteran who escaped his care home in 2014, to attend to 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France. Jackson plays his wife of 60 years, Irene. The film will be directed by Oliver Parker (An Ideal Husband).
Sounds like real potential for both Caine (87) and Jackson (84) to get Oscar nods.

I'm here for the Glenda Jackson comeback trail! She was very strong in Elizabeth Is Missing even though that film was bland as fuck.

Love them both and Jackson is the most unlikely Triple Crown winner ever in a way by returning to the stage against all expectations........but how many movies starring 2 85+ year olds paid off with Oscars or are even memorable?
I mean much more often this casting plays out as just another movie like The Good Liar or something like that.........but obviously excited to see this....

What a pleasant surprise Glenda Jackson left us with one last performance before her passing. Her comeback work in (the sadly otherwise lackluster) "Elizabeth Is Missing" was fantastic.

I didn't even know Glenda Jackson had returned to acting before she passed! I thought she was through with it for good.

Girl, she won a Tony (completing her Triple Crown) and a BAFTA in the short time she returned. Where were you?! Well you have to realize that I barely know what's going on with Oscar races most of the time, let alone Tonys or BAFTAs. I was more of an awards fanatic during the IMDb days. The old me would have seen every contender. But now I have to look to find out what won what. (The Shape of Water? What is that? ) So I'm here due to the people and the occasional recommendation because I like the reviews/tastes. That's terrific for her though! Had no idea!
