Do you think Jack Nicholson will ever come out of retirement for one last great role??
Don't tell me that he's too old since Hopkins is his same age and still active and manages to get a great part like The Father. I can't believe he would accept his last film to be that James L. Brooks forgotten rom-com in which he has a minor unremarkable appearance.
What do you think?? Vote and comment.

No, I think he's done (like Sean Connery was, and Gene Hackman is).
There was talk of him coming back for a remake of Toni Eardmann, but he dropped out of that. There is also talk that he may be suffering from memory issues or related health issues that might make going back to work impractical or uncomfortable. No confirmation, but it's none of our business and probably the type of thing he wouldn't choose to share with the public if it were true.I think the guy is just going to enjoy the rest of his well earned retirement.

He's out of the game, and frankly, he should've called it quits with About Schmidt and gone out on a high note, so that he could've spared us the embarrassment that was his Departed performance.

Probably not. It's a shame, but he more than earned his retirement.

Not coming back. Yes, he's very old plus he hasn't worked for 11 years!!
Not easy coming back after all that time in that age.
He's just retired, we have to live with it. We do, for over a decade now.
(His swan song is of the same level as Connery's and Hackman's: Very mediocre (if not bad) last movies after a great career.)

Nope like DDL he's outta here/donezo, and what a legacy he left - one of only 3 American actors that can claim that "post-Brando" GOAT tag along with DePac imo and while I always rank him 3rd it doesn't take a big stretch to make him number 1. There won't be another quite like him I reckon..... What's really important about him aside from all the work is he is the poster child for NOT doing theater - the actors like DiCap and Phoenix use his career as template (along with De Niro who tried theater once post-stardom though). If he was going to come back it would have been for Toni Eardmann which lately has had Pacino's name attached but I doubt that also for him ..........and it will languish in "the not doing it" file which is maybe for the best. Also star of my favorite movie, when the hell are we doing that Best Movie of the 70s dammit!

Heavens no. He's old and he's probably fine with enjoying retirement. Not to mention he probably realizes that if he kept working he would have done more stupid comedies like DeNiro or something. He actually had to be coaxed into doing How Do You Know as a favor to James L. Brooks, he was a last minute replacement in fact. The Bucket List was actually originally intended to be his swan song.

I think he's done and enjoying retirement. There's pretty much nothing else for him to accomplish as far as film acting. He's had a long, distinguished career and made alot of money acting. In the big picture, he's had a 1 percenter Hollywood career.

He was attached to the Beatty thing for a long time but ended up not being in it. If he would come back I think it would be for one of his old friends like that (maybe Scorsese). But there's a 99.9% chance he's done.

There is a rum . rum that he had alzheimer so the answer is NO.- However with a 60 year old career, maybe he made a film that never were realese.-

Yeah, just a confirmation of what i thought. I heard it too about the Toni Erdmann film, but then he dropped out. I wish he would have his Phantom Thread, his final great film, but i guess he also doesn't need it or has to prove anything to anyone, he may have the greatest filmography ever in cinema history (maybe only DeNiro and James Stewart equal him in that regard). I just wish his swan song was better.

Phantom Thread isn't a great or even good film, IMO. Great score, though, and much better than the noise Greenwood did for PTA earlier. DDL has IMO never been in a great film. His career would look so much better if he had something like The New World in his resume. DDL was right to go hard after Pulp Fiction.
