I thought it might be interesting to compile a list of the films from each year (beginning in 2010) to receive at least one nomination in one of the Acting categories - just to get a feel for the variety of the films the Academy are actually watching.
2015 had the most variety, with 15 films represented throughout the 4 categories. In 2013, only 10 films were represented... Guesses for this year?
2022 Aftersun The Banshees of Inisherin Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Blonde Causeway Elvis Everything Everywhere All at Once The Fabelmans Living Tár To Leslie The Whale
2021 Being the Ricardos Belfast CODA The Eyes of Tammy Faye King Richard The Lost Daughter Parallel Mothers The Power of the Dog Spencer tick, tick...BOOM! The Tragedy of Macbeth West Side Story
2020 Borat Subsequent Moviefilm The Father Hillbilly Elegy Judas and the Black Messiah Mank Ma Rainey's Black Bottom Minari Nomadland One Night in Miami Pieces of a Woman Promising Young Woman Sound of Metal The Trial of the Chicago 7 The United States vs. Billie Holiday
2019 Bombshell Harriet The Irishman It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood Jojo Rabbit Joker Judy Little Women Marriage Story Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Pain and Glory Richard Jewell The Two Popes
2018 At Eternity’s Gate BlacKkKlansman Bohemian Rhapsody Can You Ever Forgive Me? The Favourite Green Book If Beale Street Could Talk Roma A Star Is Born Vice The Wife
2017 All the Money in the World Call Me by Your Name Darkest Hour The Florida Project Get Out I, Tonya Lady Bird Mudbound Phantom Thread The Post Roman J. Israel, Esq. The Shape of Water Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
2016 Captain Fantastic Elle Fences Florence Foster Jenkins Hacksaw Ridge Hell or High Water Hidden Figures Jackie La La Land Lion Loving Manchester by the Sea Moonlight Nocturnal Animals
2015 The Big Short Bridge of Spies Brooklyn Carol Creed The Danish Girl 45 Years The Hateful Eight Joy The Martian The Revenant Room Spotlight Steve Jobs Trumbo
2014 American Sniper Birdman Boyhood Foxcatcher Gone Girl The Imitation Game Into the Woods The Judge Still Alice The Theory of Everything Two Days, One Night Whiplash Wild
2013 American Hustle August: Osage County Blue Jasmine Captain Phillips Dallas Buyers Club Gravity Nebraska Philomena 12 Years a Slave The Wolf of Wall Street
2012 Amour Argo Beasts of the Southern Wild Django Unchained Flight The Impossible Les Misérables Lincoln The Master The Sessions Silver Linings Playbook Zero Dark Thirty
2011 Albert Nobbs The Artist Beginners A Better Life Bridesmaids The Descendants Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo The Help The Iron Lady Moneyball My Week with Marilyn Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy Warrior
2010 Animal Kingdom Biutiful Black Swan Blue Valentine The Fighter The Kids Are All Right The King’s Speech 127 Hours Rabbit Hole The Social Network The Town True Grit Winter’s Bone

I'm predicting:
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm Da 5 Bloods The Father Hillbilly Elegy Judas and the Black Messiah Ma Rainey's Black Bottom Mank Minari Nomadland Pieces of a Woman Promising Young Woman One Night in Miami Sound of Metal The Trial of the Chicago 7 The United States vs. Billie Holiday
However, if Zengel makes BAFTA, I might add News of the World.

2007 was probably the last year in recent memory to have the most variety - Michael Clayton was the only film from which they selected more than one nominee...
American Gangster The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford Atonement Away from Her Charlie Wilson's War Eastern Promises Elizabeth: The Golden Age Gone Baby Gone I'm Not There In the Valley of Elah Into the Wild Juno La Vie en Rose Michael Clayton No Country for Old Men The Savages Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street There Will Be Blood
18 films... Never again, right?

I'm thinking:
Belfast Don't Look Up The Eyes of Tammy Faye House of Gucci King Richard The Last Duel Licorice Pizza The Lost Daughter Mass Nightmare Alley Passing The Power of the Dog Spencer The Tragedy of Macbeth
The Humans and Cyrano are in the wings as well.

Being the Ricardos (NGNG - if Kidman isn't nominated for this she'll never be nominated again) Belfast C'mon C'mon Coda Cyrano The Eyes of Tammy Faye House of Gucci The Humans King Richard Licorice Pizza Mass Parallel Mothers The Power of the Dog Spencer The Tragedy of Macbeth
some of these are longshots. only ones that feel all but guaranteed are Macbeth, King Richard, Belfast just because it has so many horses in the race, The Power of the Dog and Spencer. Leaving out Don't Look Up doesn't feel right but for the moment I'm prioritizing Dinklage and Phoenix over a millionth obligatory DiCaprio nod.

Ugh what a year 2007 was. Probably the most enjoyable Awards season that I can remember. (I started following in 2005)

Oh 100%, and the omission of Smit-McPhee makes it even more questionable. I am now fully prepared to be jumped on for being too confident in my predictions

mhynson27 - I don't see a way in for Haim at the moment, but DiCaprio is my alternate choice.

mhynson27 - I don't see a way in for Haim at the moment, but DiCaprio is my alternate choice. Huh interesting, I actually think Haim is in a pretty good spot right now. She has won the second most regionals behind KStew, and she is the co-lead of what is arguably the strongest film represented by the women in contention (give or take Zegler, but she keeps on getting relegated to breakthrough noms, and couldn't even crack BFCA). The category loves nominating a younger star, and it helps that she's in an original, extremely well reviewed film, that helps her stand out from all the middling biopic shit. I'd still be predicting her regardless, but if she takes one of LA or NSFC, I would be tempted to call her a straight up lock.

If she’s nominated at SAG, then I’ll definitely re-asses.
