Really happy for Judas, PYW, and Palm Springs.

Surprised that Borat made it over Charlie Kaufman, that puts a nail in that coffin.
I guess Mank and Minari will replace Palm Springs and Sound of Metal or Judas.

Interesting... Borat and The White Tiger are probably missing out in favor of The Father and Nomadland, but Borat making it here could make it a dark horse for a nomination at the Oscars. The first one got in, after all.

Well, this is pretty much what was expected considering how many movies were DQ'd. The biggest thing for me here is that Da 5 Bloods couldn't get in Original. Another sing of the decline of its strength.

This continues my thinking that we might have a really young winning ticket - Riz/Carey/Kaluuya/Bakalova - tho I'm less confident on Bakalova. On a grump note, can't believe there wasn't a single great script this year

so remind me again which of these were ineligible: Mank Soul Da 5 Bloods Never Rarely Sometimes Always On the Rocks
and adapted: I'm Thinking of Ending Things First Cow
If Kaufman was eligible then this is a big miss. Same for Da 5 Bloods and Soul. It's huge that Judas got in. Finally some traction in the Big 8 apart from SA. Won't be surprised to see that continue.

Yet another massive blow for Da 5 Bloods with an actual industry award. Couldn't even make a Top 5, with Mank, Minari and Soul all being ineligible. I think I'm at the point where I'm just predicting one above the line nom for it, in the form of Boseman.

I read somewhere that for some reason First Cow never sent screeners. If they had, it probably would have gotten in over The White Tiger.

Well Kaufman hasn't gotten a WGA nom since 2004, and the three he has gotten were all for much more competitive films overall than I'm Thinking of Ending Things.

Upon reflection on how the tech categories are shaping up, you might be 100% correct.

I’m in agreement with others that D5B is fading fast. More of a critics darling. Honestly I would rather it not get any Oscar nominations period, than only Boseman. The idea that the only Oscar nomination the film would receive is for Boseman I find insulting and ridiculous and everyone is going to know what that’s about.
