LENA DUNHAM KNEW! SHE TRIED TO PUT IT DOWN ON TV (SORRY, HBO) AND EVERYONE LOOKED THE OTHER WAY!

Come on, you're posting comments and reactions taken from an Adam Driver fan section, and those can hardly be impartial in this case. The original translation is also from an Adam Driver fan section, and you're saying that's accurate. Not sure what your point is. All right, let's talk about this. 1. Did she or did she not say that, "there was nothing legally they could do"? 2. Did the host say, in response, "Assault is definitely NOT legal in Portugal"?We can take it from the answers to those questions. Again, I don't think it really matters who you're a fan of. Clearly you're a better judge of the conversation than I am, but I am just the messenger. For the purposes of this conversation, I am willing to accept your translation at face value, so let's see if we can find common ground based on the questions I asked earlier. PS: And I'm no Adam Driver fan, either. If he was "canceled" tomorrow, I wouldn't fret about it beyond 10 seconds. 1. Yes. The male host asks: "What does one do, when that happens?", and she says: "They [the production staff] gave me permission to leave. They said that it was awful, what he was doing to me, but there was nothing they could do [contractually, in relation to him]. Their hands were tied, there was nothing they could do". 2. Yes, the female host asks "But, I mean, legally, assault is a crime, right?". That's when Lidia replied, "Yes, it is a camouflaged assault with a chair. A camouflaged assault." (She did use the Present Simple here).

All right, based off your translation, it sounds to me like Franco believes what Driver did was illegal and a crime, which would lead me believe that her implication is that she was physically hurt in some capacity. While your take is contested, even if it's from Adam Driver fans, your translation is more descriptive and specific, so I'll defer to yours until we know more. Thanks!

god can it just be 2014 again? I don't want 2021, or 2020, or 2019, 0r 2018, or 2017, or 2016 or 2015. I'd want to go back to early 2009. That was a great beautiful time with a lot of hope & literal sunshine. Then the summer came...

Oh, well. Meanwhile, the actress has issued a statement where she contradicts herself, saying it was all a "misunderstanding" ( link). She said there was a scene that involved some physical proximity between the two and that the incident ocurred while they were preparing for the scene. "I considered his behaviour indelicate because, when preparing for a scene, he wasn't as careful as I thought he should have been. Our characters had to be close to each other, and everytime he got up with the great impetus of the character to do the scene, the chair he was sitting on touched me with a certain force, which bothered me. Despite the discomfort and the fact that such discomfort was visible, he acted indifferent and did not change his behaviour."

Glad she was able to clear it up.

Glad she was able to clear it up. Maybe. Maybe not. I don't know. Maybe she's trying to hide something to avoid further consequences, or maybe she's that type of veteran actress who likes to behave like a diva from time to time. But I would risk saying that most of those who heard her, including the hosts themselves, didn't take it metaphorically (you hear them saying "that's awful" more than once, and the word "crime" is brought up). The contradictions between what she says in the podcast and what she says in her statement are hard to ignore. She went from "he attacked me physically" and "camouflaged assault" to "it was not an assault", and from "it had nothing to do with a scene" to "it had to do with a scene"...

It's hard to believe, maybe all was lost in translation.- I agree that he can shout, and had a irrespectuful behaviour, and even throw a chair, and being an awful human being. But beating up a chair to an old actress is hard to believe.-
In Portuguese also no nao, could be yes. It's a tricky language, I want that tape!!!

But beating up a chair to an old actress is hard to believe.- Yeah it’s not hard to believe he can be difficult and temperamental, but there’s a world of difference between pissing a coworker off because he was rude and assault. There definitely must have been something lost in translation.

Wondering if the studios contacted the lady BTS to change the statement... Is that kind of thing still possible today?
