Olsen is good. Bettany is charming. Two episodes in, it shows potential.
Low-key hit, my prediction.

Really enjoyed the first two episodes. Finally the MCU model is doing something it hasn't done before. Charming, funny, slightly surreal at times. Looking forward to see how it all progresses.

Only watched the first episode so far, but I like what I'm seeing and am definitely curious to see where they go with it. I dug the Bewitched/I Love Lucy vibe, and it was interesting how the visual style briefly changed from sitcom-like framing to something slightly more cinematic when things got weirder and shifted tone. Also appreciate the harmonic motivicism in the credits music, which brings back the same uncanny chord progression that introduces Vision in Age of Ultron!

There seems to be a lot of online chatter that Pacino may be playing "Mephisto" on this show or something.......tbh I don't really get it and I haven't watched but if you do a search on Pacino/Mephisto this seems to be a fan theory tied into his having been......... SatanKind of amusing but not really sure I want to see this - I mean, I'm old, I just want King Lear - but it seems to excite people.........I dunno.....

I was gonna wait til all the eps dropped and then consider if it's worth bingeing. Idk why Disney+ likes dropping one 27 minute ep at a time.... I stopped watching Mandalorian bc I stopped caring about returning each week. For this, the trailers and marketing have kept me utterly unsure about what it even is, which might be a good thing. I do like Elizabeth Olsen and that one director did all of it. I mean, I'll be watching faster than immediately if the Pacino rumors are true.
The biggest "Oh wait" is that some redditer's post about the show/Pacino was taken down bc of "MarvelSpoilers" or something like that....which is suspicious. I don't mind at all Pacino doing character-specific guest spots here and there with w/e series. I've also really been wondering what the hell he's been doing since the first week of September 2019 which is the last time he filmed anything, as far as we know....

Was hanging out with my nerd brother and he had this on. I really don't know what to make of it. From the promos I just thought it looked like a lame Truman Show knockoff but it plays the fake sitcom thing way more straight than I thought it would with just a few splashes of weirdness. Reminded me a bit of Too Many Cooks but of course not as funny. It really wasn't that funny overall, I did a little "awkward laughing" but the actual jokes are deliberately unfunny and it's more offputting than anything else. Like I said, I'm not sure what to make of it or if I like it or not. They need to not get banal and start explaining everything, though. They should ride it out and keep it weird.

This is very good stuff so far. The sitcom stuff was weird and intreresting, but they made a perfect choice to transition out of it for episode 4, as people now have an idea about the real stakes of this show and how high they may be.

If the show doesn't completely transition out of the sitcom format after the upcoming 80s-style episode, I really hope there's like a Seinfeld-esque, 90s-themed episode.

If they go 90's sitcom, my bet is they riff on Friends.Or the might do Full House (if they don't use that as a reference for the 80's sitcom episode, which they probably will) especially because of the Olsen connection

I could be going crazy but I swear I read somewhere that the last 3 sitcoms they're riffing off are Full House, Malcolm in the Middle and Modern Family.

Full House and Modern Family make sense. But Malcolm? If there's any family sitcom really worth of note in the 00's, is Arrested Development.

Malcolm In The Middle is a lot closer in set-up to Wanda and Vision and their twin sons, than Arrested Development, with all the adult extended family. Now that I think of it, that's probably why they won't do Friends, which I suggested earlier simply because it was such an era defining sitcom . The set-up of 6 single professionals doesn't work for WandaVision.

Something I wrote last week:
"Was into it after the first two episodes and thought episode three was mostly solid, the ending of that felt to me like it's headed towards a much more typically big universe MCU-type thing than the relatively contained, weirder path I was hoping (but not expecting)."
And yup, episode four went the big universe MCU route and even with this universe's generic government agency shit explaining everything that was either already heavily hinted from the show or a simple Google search so people could get the S.W.O.R.D. necklace Easter egg. This was a secure time for the MCU to take bigger risks with the Endgame victory lap and with the premise tapping into Wanda's potential and they couldn't go a solid month without spoon-feeding us again.

I guess there's more to it than "It's all Wanda". The mystery deepens. Elizabeth Olsen rocking it so far. Marvel fans are going to be crazy with that last shot. Smart recasting Quicksilver . Bravo Marvel.

Thought this last episode was the best so far in terms of pure parody. The music in particular was on point (the soft electric piano rock and jazz harmony).
Also, this song slaps:

I love how these parodies consistently nail every aspect of the shows that they're spoofing. I've only seen a couple episodes of Malcolm in the Middle (I think Viced is probably the biggest fan of the show that I've seen on this board), but I could instantly recognize not just the obvious stuff like the fourth-wall breaking and music, but also the characteritic editing, camera work, rhythm of the dialogue, etc. Also, the early 2000s-ness of that yogurt commercial was so perfect and crazy specific to my generation... I feel seen.

I'm not a Marvel person at all, but curiosity got the better of me and this show is really freaking good. Equally funny and off-putting at times, the attention to detail with the production design and frame rate for every genre and era is incredible.

Just binged what has been released tonight. I like this quite a bit. Olsen is great and love how on it is with each sitcom style. *it’s gotta be The Office next, right? RIGHT?* It’s actually taking the time to develop the grief of a character and show the emotion rather than having a series of events happen and a character tells me their feelings on those said events, MCU rarely does that and never this effectively

7th episode was awesome. We're finally getting some answers to the whole mystery. Kind of guessed the culprit behind the scenes. Kathryn Hann killed it. Also there's a mid credit for the first time in this series. Do watch it.

This is a great, great show. Wildly original in it's conceit, and executed marvellously. Hope it wins all the Emmys, especially for Elizabeth Olsen. But Paul Bettany deserves just as much consideration as Olsen for his performance.
The Kathryn Hahn reveal in Episode 7 was fantastic, and she was hilarious in it. Her new theme song is so damn catchy too.
