Neglia also thinks that Kirby is winning Best Actress and that Saoirse is still somehow getting in for Ammonite so... Yeah, people are so desperate to see any sort of wind-change in what they perceive as a boring race that they'll tout a minor-leagues critics' prize from an organization that's only been around for four years as a strong bellwether. I like Neglia, he's an amazing resource for awards buzz and critics' notices, but he misses just as much as he lands, same as anyone.

If he had Kirby at one point earlier in the season, he obviously changed his mind as circumstances changed, which is perfectly reasonable. It's something all prognosticators do. And Neglia's tweet about Lee potentially winning the DGA and possibly the Oscar was published before the Chicago Indie Critics announced their winners. So he came to his conclusion about Lee independently, and wasn't using Lee's win with this organisation as bellwether to jump on a bandwagon. It was basically a coincidence that Neglia touted Lee, then he won director with that group. Anyhow, the guy could be dead wrong or he could be onto something. Nobody knows jackshit for certain at this point.

I looked at the overall aggregate prediction of the site, which has Davis as the predicted winner. Yeah, I don't agree with Kirby as a prediction, but maybe the people on that site have a thing for that performance or are hearing some industry buzz that we aren't, because 2 or 3 other prognosticators appear to have Kirby as their current no.1. So he doesn't seem to be on his lonesome there. Who knows...Maybe Kirby wins the BAFTA, and suddenly we are talking about her as a potential winner again. Not holding my breath for that outcome, but it's a weird and very elongated season.

Regardless of who wins and or is a frontrunner, I'm just happy and impressed that Da 5 Bloods has managed to have some staying power this precursor season, given how a lot of people were quick to write it off as being forgotten due to its early release.
