I just drank a whole bottle of wine because I finished my script and it's the best thing I've ever written in my life. Usually, when you create something, this is how it goes: during the construction, it feels so urgent, so potent, so important not only to yourself but culture and cinema itself. Then, you finish it and it's the greatest thing anyone's written ever. Then, days go by and you go back and you sense the imperfections and correct it. Then, weeks later, you look at it and it's horrible and you're not an artist and the world is awful etc etc. Right now I'm in the triumphant "I just created" stage, but even so, I know this is the best thing I've ever written, and what's so hilarious is that it's my very first (and only) fan fiction script lol. It took casting away my pride and doing something silly to finally write a great script.
It's a sequel to BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN and the conclusion of the 1930s "Frankenstein" trilogy (replacing Son of Frankenstein). It's an in-universe sequel, meant to match the aesthetic of the old stagebound B+W '30s Golden Age Hollywood, only now the finale to the Frankenstein saga is free of the shackles of the Hays Code at last, allowing the subtext of queer theory, feminism, and religious satire to finally become glorious text.
The first film was FRANKENSTEIN. The second, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN. The glorious finale: THE MONSTER. And the titanic creation finally gets his due. A horror-comedy for the ages, and the greatest thing I've ever written. Sorry, had to vomit out my exuberance somewhere.

This is exactly how Victor Frankenstein would announce the completion of a screenplay he wrote.

I'm interested in your process, mate - do you start by planning the whole story ahead of time and maybe writing a detailed synopsis, or do you just start with page one and proceed with the script as it comes to you?

Henry Frankenstein - Cillian Murphy The Bride - Anne Hathaway (or Ana de Armas) Elizabeth - Keira Knightley The Monster - Tom Hardy (with trick photography to make him look much taller) Baron Frankenstein - Mark Addy Old Preacher (the villain) - Charles Dance

It differs depending on the script, and my process has changed recently. For the longest time I would come up with the ending first, and then work my way toward it. Now, however, I tend to plan out the first half in a detailed fashion and then allow the story to progress organically from there. So I used to be a writing 'architect', planning out the whole story start-to-finish as if it were a blueprint, but now I'm more of a 'gardener', planting seeds in the beginning, nurturing them in the middle act, and then seeing how they bloom in the finale. This has massively improved my writing since IMO my last two feature scripts have been the best writing of my life. So gardening FTW.

Late to the party... Congratulations, man. Are you putting it up on Blacklist? Thanks! No I don't plan on putting it up since it's just a fan fiction script and it's not like Universal would ever take a gamble on a piece of IP like Frankenstein with my little fan B&W horror-comedy. Right now I'm currently redrafting the script I wrote before this one. It's called MINA and is about a recovering alcoholic housewife who accidentally kills her cheating husband five minutes before company arrives at the front door. That's the project I'm hoping to actually one day turn into a low-budget feature film.

Also late to the party, but huge congrats!! It's always a relief to see someone actually managed to finish writing something, and I'm sure it's remarkable by how you describe it

Oh honey, congrats! Whatdaya mean Ana de Armas? I'm a much better dancer than her!... and everybody hates Anne Hathaway... I will sleep with Tom Hardy, I suppose... if it is necessary to move the plot along. I never rehearse before two o'clock or work after four... and will need 4 stand ins and a stunt double and several cases of Vodka.
