It's going to be very disappointing because you know it's probably gonna hit the same marks Deadpool hit last year and the love for the film amongst the film community and regular audiences plus the phenomenal box office performance is gonna be present all year up to awards season. I know, we haven't heard from ALL the contenders, but I doubt they'll have the impact Get Out has had in the industry alone. Finally some love for this genre?

If that is one of the 5 best scripts of the year it's going to be a pretty weak year

It's surely getting WGA, possibly even winning DGA 1st feature, and PGA is very possible since its a big studio hit along the lines of Deadpool like you said
OG Screenplay is tough this year, though:
Downsizing- Payne's biggest film, BP contender Detroit- Boal, BP contender Darkest Hour- McCarten, BP contender The Post- Spielberg BP contender
And then you have Dark Horses: Inner City- if 2017 Wonder Wheel- possible return to form for Woody Allen, Winslet is a contender Untitled PTA- 4 writing noms, but a late release 3 Billboards- Searchlight, acting contender but perhaps too odd to embrace Suburbicon- Clooney + Coens
LONGSHOTS: mother!- Aronofsky, acting contender Untitled AA Milne- Searchlight Oscar bait Killing of a Sacred Deer- A24 Under Silver Lake- A24 Untitled Baumbach- if 2017 Lady Bird- if 2017

Yeah, the only thing I worry about is a potential density of the category, as noted by Jay, but also to manage to keep itself in the conversation for the rest of the year. That's tough for any film to do. I expect it to still be a fixture in the writing category, though.

I think it has a shot due to the director/writer combo. The Academy seems use screenplay nods as a consolation prize when directors do a good job. In this case, Peele pretty much made history with this movie and he should be rewarded for it... well at least he should be considered.

It's biggest hurdles are the genre and the early release date and I don't think those are as big as they might seem. For one, the Academy has definitely been open to genre films that have addressed social issues and became a major talking point of the year. This is the same group that gave major nominations to Arrival, Mad Max: Fury Road and District 9. The release date is going to be an issue (though The Grand Budapest Hotel was released in March), though it has a chance if it's still one of the most talked about movies of the year. A smart campaign and critic's awards could bring it back. After all, Universal did get screenplay nominations for Straight Outta Compton and Bridesmaids and Get Out has better reviews than both plus comparable box office. I know it's early, but I'm feeling good about the film in Screenplay and even Picture.

Well, Straight Outta Compton and Bridesmaids both got SAG Ensemble noms (also Supporting Actress nom and a Globe Picture nom), which Get Out is unlikely to do

I think it could get a screenplay nod. The Lobster had the tough obstacle of being an early release granted the field wasn't quite as crowded as what I suspect it to be this upcoming year. I think the Academy usually throws an "odd" screenplay just about every year especially on the Original side, I think Get Out could be it and again they'll just vote for what they liked most (most of the time)
