Did anyone check out the first season? It’s really funny and charming and has a lot of heart. Pretty much everything you’d want in a comedy. Strong recommendation.

I knew this was the best show of 2020 after this scene:
But yeah, kind of loved it. Funny, charming, and has a lot of heart is exactly right. Seems like it could become mawkish in every episode, but they pull off the emotional and life-affirming moments incredibly well. Sudeikis is perfect... but Roy Kent is my favorite character.

Loved it. At times it got way too sugary for me but overall it's a very entertaining, touching show with beautiful performances all around. Definitely one of the better TVs of 2020. The quiet, bearded coach was my favorite character. Oh and if I see one more show with people literally dying while having indian food.. You guys really find it THAT spicy?

I am all caught up on Ted Lasso. Yeah, it's a great show. Definitely lives up to the hype. Be curious, not judgemental.
I love the relationship between Roy and Keele.

I don't have Apple TV. I am legit sick of streamers now. Understandable. The big issue with AppleTV+ is the lack of large content. Apple is doing the "less is more" strategy, and keeping the price very low. So far, they have had two hit shows -- Ted Lasso and The Morning Show.
I only got AppleTV+ because I bought a new Ipad, and got a free 1 year subscription. Currently I am 50-50 on whether I want to actually pay for the streaming service. We're getting to the point, where everything is now streaming and we expect that people are going to subscribe to at least four different streaming services. To me, it's much cheaper to use your local library system, which is somewhat free and you can pick out the shows you want to see. With streaming services, you're paying for programs you have no interest in watching.

Bit jarring to watch a Christmas episode in the middle of summer, but that was the best episode so far of an already wonderful season. Also great to see Higgins and his wife get a spotlight, as Jeremy Swift (Jez to us!) and his real-life wife are good family friends of ours. They looked like they were having a great time this episode, as were we all .

Went to his birthday party the other week, Hannah Waddingham was there with Jamie Tartt and Sam, didn't get the opportunity to meet them but was still pretty awesome.

This is terrible news. Apple's best and most successful television program will come to an end with Season 3. Brett Goldstein said that the third season will be the final season. Apple plans to release season 3 at the end of 2022.

I got to the show during Christmas last year and really, really enjoyed it. Feeling sad that it's gonna end after one more season, but if the ending is good and definitive I will have no complaints. It's better to let things end at a definitive closure point rather than let it continue and witness it get progessively worse.

It's always better when a show goes out with a bang early than being dragged on and on till everybody hates it.

I'm sort of glad it's ending. I loved the first season but it already felt like it had lost steam by the middle of S2. The writing was going in circles, some of the episodes felt filler, and Ted's damage is handled so inconsistently. Best part of S2 was the Keeley-Roy stuff and Rebecca's late season fling.
For me what worked so well in S1 was the incredibly measured way it balanced the positivity with Ted's trauma & loneliness. It hits you like a ton of bricks in "Make Rebecca Great Again" and that was the dramatic focal point for the whole season for me and it defined Ted's character. Season 2 was missing that balance for me. The emotional beats felt forced and telegraphed. The therapist character wasn't interesting. Nate goes off the deep end in an uncharacteristically dark moment that didn't feel earned. Season was also more diffuse I think. Too many competing storylines that took focus off Ted. Moment to moment it was still enjoyable and I laughed quite a lot, but the magic was gone.

Moment to moment it was still enjoyable and I laughed quite a lot, but the magic was gone. Just finished season 2 and I too find it much weaker than season 1. I feel like in later part of season 2 the show lost focus and storylines became convoluted and derivative. It also felt like they didn't really know what to do with certain characters towards the end of the season. Mainly Higgins, Jamie, and most of all Ted - he was the heart and soul of the show in season 1 but became a very boring character in season 2 imo. I also agree that the emotional beats in season 2 were much more mawkish and cloying relative to in season 1. This problem was particularly jarring in Man City and Rainbow. Still, the Christmas and the funeral episodes were fantastic, and the season finale was strong.

Anybody watching Ted Lasso? The second half of Season 3 is really good and an improvement over the first half. None of the cast members have confirmed this is the final season of Ted Lasso. Apple has not renewed the series — that’s the big thing. I suspect this is going to get Breaking Bad treatment — a spin off series. Personally, I am fine with this being the last season. Go out on top and leave before the series loses its freshness.
