More props for the GOAT from another major talent/actor. Daniel Craig says he isn't worthy of comparison to Denzel.
Kudos to Craig for such humility, as he is a highly enough rated and successful enough actor to (rightfully) have a massive ego about his stature and talent when comparing himself to peers.
Also interesting that it is yet another British actor who seems to see Washington as the pinnacle of the craft (like Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson etc), yet it seems like the entire voting membership of BAFTA always snubs him (and BAFTA has a lot of non-actors who vote for acting nominations and awards)

Well-deserved too, though hardly that surprising. It's always been a highly well-liked rewatchable movie. Speaking of Denzel and Tony Scott, I just recently watched Unstoppable for like the fifth time, and his performance is so good and effortless, it almost makes acting look too easy, heh.

A "sleeper hit"? I could have sworn Man on Fire did quite well at the box office and in dvd sales. Anyways, I love all the Denzel / Tony Scott collaborations. (Man on Fire being my favorite of them)

Yeah I'm glad I own Man on Fire on DVD and give it a re watch every year (the ending always hits me hard) Also glad you dig Unstoppable. That was another edge of your seat Tony Scott thrill ride. Denzel was great as always and imo Chris Pine held his own on screen with Denzel. That's a very hard task to do. for a young actor.

The only two Denzel movies I see on Netflix: Safe House and Training Day. Where is Man on Fire? Do I need to switch my VPN and hijack another county or what??

A really respectable top 3 and then it goes downhill into such a random, odd list. Keanu Reeves in the top 5 is almost as bad as recently reading that Rolling Stone magazine says "Get Ur Freak On" is the number 8 song of all time. I should just stop reading lists.

Now that is a fucking mic drop moment! Would love to see Zel in a Hard Eight type role. Hopefully it’s a collaboration that happens.

First Joel Coen, now perhaps PTA? If the great American auteurs start coming to him consistently now, Denzel is going to have a great run in his 70s.

I feel like Denzel had maybe too much of a "I don't give a shit how big a director you are" attitude for some of the bigger/major auteurs to reach out to when he was younger. Him cussing out Tarantino on the set of Crimson Tide for his constant use of the N-word, and turning down Spielberg for Amistad with the retort, "I didn't feel like wearing no chains" might have had him branded "difficult" with some auteurs, who may have seen him as more dominant a presence on set than them. I guess now he's older, he's a bit less threatening and they all want to admit to wanting to work with him badly

Now if he can convince DDL to come out of retirement to direct a film with him and Denzel?

It should also be pointed out that PTA also namechecked Olivia Colman.

PTA wants to work with Joaquin again. Denzel and Joaquin on the same screen, can you imagine the intensity fireworks.

He's in rarified air, where you as a director would want to work with him as a bucket list item for yourself. Especially ones that have been in the game for a long time like Coen, PTA, etc. I still want the Denzel-Scorsese collaboration. I mean what a miss if that never came to fruition. Come on Scorsese!

I guess they wanted to be inclusive. Seriously Sonia Braga? She was great in the 70s and 80s but most of her parts in the XXI were cameos, with very few relevant films.-
Alfree Woodard, Micheal B. Jordan, Marhala Ali, Wes Studi??? at expense of Omar Sy. His inclussion as The French Will Smith has much more sense.- But he isn't while Woodard, who hasn't being in an important role in a relevant movie since the late 90s.- Where is Di Caprio

This morning I had a big emotional rollercoaster seeing a picture of Olivia and Denzel and the words "Paul Thomas Anderson" and "directs", I went from "OMG YESSS" to "Ah...he just wants to directs them ". After Viola in 2016 and Frances in 2021, who is the other most respected actress in Hollywood ATM who isn't (doesn't look like) a big star ? She's in the very short list. So be ready for 2026 guys !!!

PTA hasn't had a marginally commercially successful since TWBB. As good as Licorice Pizza looks I have feeling it's only going to gross like 10 mil. or something. Like Wes Anderson, PTA seems to be one of those guys who is immune to that and studios will keep giving him 20 mil. budgets for the prestige of working for him or whatever. Still, getting a legit A-lister like Denzel in one of his movies would be huge for him, especially if it's something a touch more commercial, maybe a little bit of a thriller. If it was successful at the BO and had the higher profile from Denzel being in it that could get him in the conversation to win BD if the movie was good.
