Gary Oldman, a 1-time Oscar nominee and 2-time BAFTA nominee and 0-time Golden Globe nominee at the time, had this to say in 2014:

How much of it was Oldman just being brutally honest and then playing the game in 2018 in order to not sabotage his awards chances, and how much of it was just sour grapes on his part toward the one major televised awards show that had never recognized him (at the time)? It seems like a bit of an inconvenient coincidence that he was especially scathing toward the one televised awards body that never nominated him, because he had been recognized by the Oscars, BAFTA, and even SAG by that point in 2014. At the same time, there is also a shred of truth to his comments because the relevancy of the Globes is almost entirely because people lend credence and pay attention to them.
I think it's a bit of both. While I do think he meant what he said about the Globes, at least in part, I really doubt he would have made those comments if he had already been nominated for and won one of them.
