Luca Guadagnino is remaking the classic television mini-series Brideshead Revisited as a co-production between the BBC and HBO.
Andrew Garfield is to play Charles Ryder, Joe Alwyn is to play Sebastian Flyte and Rooney Mara is to play Lady Julia, the main trio of leads.
Ralph Fiennes and Cate Blanchett are in negotiations to play the supporting roles of Lord and Lady Marchmain.

Good cast, but not especially inspiring choice of material, imho (I feel like Guagadino just enjoys remaking things he liked as a kid. First Suspira, now this). The original mini-series doesn't strike me as something that needs redoing again, as they had a stab at doing it as a movie, Brideshead Revisited (2008) that didn't particularly get anyone excited. Aside from the gay relationship angle, it's quite dated and over familiar English heritage period drama. But I'm sure it will look good like most of these Downton Abbey kind of shows.

Hmmmmmm.......this is where I make a joke about Guagadino hopefully leaving Scarface alone ......now... This is the 3rd version of this now .......and Lord and Lady Marchmain always attract heavy hitters (Olivier (Emmy Award - his 4th of an eventual 5 ) and Claire Bloom and then later.... Michael Gambon and Emma Thompson). @tyler - As per our usual "Americans cast in seemingly British things!" talks ........ This is one that Close would have been able to do totally don't you think? But Fiennes/Blanchett are pretty stellar obviously .....

If Fiennes and Blanchett get in, the cast will be fantastic!

This cast is unreal.I know its been made a few times before but I feel confident that Luca can put a fresh spin on it.

Not familiar with the earlier versions! but a miniseries is a good idea for Mara who seemed to disappear in plain sight after Carol. Fiennes/Blanchett is a dream team; Fiennes was awesome in A Bigger Splash by Luca btw. Also this must be the dozenth project Luca's been attached to in the last two years...
