I'm shutting it down. I can't do this tonight. Have to watch Schitt's Creek or something. A Biden win is still possible without the southeast if he gets AZ (Fox called it for him but that might be premature) but that's dependent on how much of a blue shift he gets when the midwest counts more absentee ballots. Will it be enough to make up the deficit or does Trump win by at least his margins in 2016 if not higher? I can't think about it now. I fucking can't. I've spent months thinking about this shitshow of an election. Fuck America. And even if Biden wins I'd still feel that way, because when you have a narcissistic democracy defying norm breaking amoral naval gazing scummy piece of dogshit wannabe strongman in office, it should not be this close.

Just as an fyi for our poll questions - looks likely Republicans hold the Senate (that could change?) and if Trump loses (entirely possible he loses the electoral college) he has already exceeded his 2016 popular vote totals - at 65,416,130 currently, he got 62,984,828 in 2016 - so the most votes ever for a Republican.
Biden has 67,154,289 popular vote already, looking to maybe break Obama's overall popular vote record of 2008 - 69,498,516

7 states left.
My guess.... I think Trump takes North Carolina, Georgia, and Wisconsin. 94% of the votes are in in those states. Alaska certainly goes Trump.
Biden probably wins Nevada.
It comes down to Michigan and Pennsylvania. Trump needs only 1 of those. Biden needs both. Trump is in the lead in both. Too close for me to celebrate yet, but I'd rather be Trump than Biden right now.

Think this race may be over in some ways now in Biden's favor: Even if Trump (has 213 electoral votes) is given GA (16 votes), NC (15 votes) AND PA (20 votes) that only gets him to 264.
Biden has tied him at least in WI and MI at this point........Trump would have to win NV and it's 6 electoral votes to even hit to 270 (needed to win)......which is not likely and bucks every trend...
Now I'm sure there will be court challenges........ but with the reported votes it clearly seems Biden going by the trends and what's left to count atm........

A lot can change in three years The most recent statement is always the most relevant one. Just like a lot of people who once hung around with Trump and found him tolerable realised what a gigantic, unreedemable asshole he was when he got elected president (to keep it on topic. Clever, eh )

There is a disturbing scenario that is getting more likely- imagine if Biden wins Nevada, Michigan and Wisconsin...and nothing else. That means he wins 270 to 268, which means that if when the EC goes to vote, Republicans could try to flip two of the voters in Democratic states (with bribes and/or threats) and then steal the election anyway.
You know Trump will publicly call for this in that scenario, so the next month or so until the actual election, rather than seeing tension beginning to reduce, will be one of, if not the most tense in American history. If the EC college steal happens, or even if one vote changes hands, meaning it goes to Congress, or hell, just the threat of it looms, there will be violence in the streets I'm sure

I actually think this is much worse for us politically than Bush/Gore and the Florida decision........that was one state. Trump literally will challenge 3 or 4 (more?) here and publicly questioned the whole process - that's unprecedented and you can't go back on something like that.....it was an appalling thing to say tbh and it's going to have deep effects in the psyche of some voters in this country too for subsequent elections. Very sad day for democracy and a lot more to follow in it's wake too

It's not gonna get better- Republicans have no chance at this moment of being the party with the most votes in the US, so they choices are either do drastic changes or try to cheat and attack liberals, and the latter is much easier to do and much less costly for the party elites. Perhaps is Hillary had won in 2016, that could have happened, but now they know they have a pact to victory, narrow as it is, and without actually having to get most people on board.

Very sad day for democracy and a lot more to follow in it's wake too Honestly the whole last week was sad for democracy with people trying to block and hinder others to vote or threatening them. WIth Trump claiming that absentee voting is fraud and shouldn't be counted With him caliming the win before all votes are counted. I'm laughing for years - and many others in Central/Western Europe with me - about what Americans call democracy (with gerrymandering, a stoneage voting system, etc.), but the absurdity of this election really tops everything. Honestly this is not better than in faked democracies as Hungary, Russia or Turkey or in dictatorships like Belarus.

It's peculiar how you find someone's death ridiculous. Idk the American law, but I guess the second candidate who got more votes will be elected.
