This will be the official catch-all thread for the election. Post your QAnon conspiracy theories, your twitter bad takes, your bullshit early projections, your dread for the future of American democracy. I had hoped to be working at the polls tomorrow which would've given me something to do for 14 hours other than doomscroll on my laptop but I never got a callback, so doomscrolling it is! Might go for drinks in the evening, although I live in a pretty Republican area of VA so we'll see how that goes... I'll be getting up at 6AM to go vote and then work out a bit later. Doubt I'll get much sleep tonight. here we go

Why there is an option "not a US citizen"? No reason in such a poll.

I'm not an US citizen, but cross my fingers that the nightmare of having Trump as president will be finished at year's end after today's vote.
My guess is that Biden will win slighly. I think he flips Michigan and Wisconsin, but loses Florida. Then it will depend that he wins either Pennsylvania or Arizona and I think and hope he'll get one of those. Actually despite the exit polls I'm more confident of Arizona than Pennsylvania as I read a plausible article at one point, why Arizona has mostly highly accurate polls.

As much as I can’t stand him, I hope Biden wins just for the fact that he’s at least better than Trump on some of the most important issues such as climate change. Either way, it’s going to be a wild night.
I heard a possible outcome from a few people is that Trump will announce victory based on the votes today (polls have shown that more people who support Trump will vote today than those who support Biden), knowing that the votes that have already been mailed in have heavily been in favour of Biden which in some states will not be counted by Wednesday (such as Pennsylvania). He’ll then use the supreme court to say that mailed in ballots that haven’t been counted by election day have skewed the results so therefore they won’t be counted (the supreme court decision on the Wisconsin case can be utilized as a precedent in order to do this). That’s be the worst fucking outcome.

Unless he flips another state, Michigan + Wisconsin + Arizona may not be enough for Biden, as it would lead to a tie in the Electoral College, from which he is not guaranteed to emerge as the winner.

538's election day live blog for those interested in going down the rabbit hole. Lots if interesting content in there. Not the anecdotal tidbits of news you're getting on CNN's live coverage, so far it's mostly policy and data commentary. I'll refresh it every now and then but I'm pretty much retired from this cycle of politics. Just waiting for FL and NC and trying to distract myself. Had a great workout! by the way, one last resource: the final results of 538's presidential forecast, officially locked at the end of last night. Everything that happens in the coming days and weeks will be measured against these final projections. Biden capped out at 89% which isn't too shabby, but I was expecting him to be in the low-to-mid 90s, I'll be honest.

That’s be the worst fucking outcome. I know this is the favorite conspiracy on the left but I really don't see it happening. I'm obviously worried about what might happen when Trump declares premature victory because I think that's very likely. But two things: One, twitter and facebook have promised to plainly qualify premature statements, and two, too many Republicans are avid traditionalists and respect the electoral process too much to let him get away with something like throwing out millions upon millions of votes (and we've seen several GOP officials in plain language express that all votes will be counted). Republicans writ large shut down his statements about delaying the election months ago and if he tries to interfere in an unprecedented and massive way you're going to see that same pushback from his own side. Of course, the way to sidestep all of this uncertainty is for Biden to win Florida and/or North Carolina and I think he can do it.

37% in FL now, Biden leading by 4 points Maybe I’m wrong, but this isn’t a good sign for Biden as Florida immediately counts the early votes, right?
