Lindo lead, Boseman lead, Chicago 7 all supporting. Something seems surprising about every category placement Netflix has been selecting. It's almost as if, they're placing them objectively and not based on odds/Oscars politics. Isn't that wild?

I honestly don't know why Boseman is placed in the leading category. Haven't seen the movie of course but strategically doesn't make sense.

Yeah I'd have to assume that he simply is the lead and they're going for the high road like with their other decisions this year. I want to be mad at the decisions because Boseman would've been a lock in supporting (as would have Lindo), but it seems like they're actually just being honest. Unless, of course, they simply don't know what they're doing and just think it looks better to be Lead.

The role is borderline, and really could go either way depending entirely on how the adaptation is staged (and I get the sense that this film augments Levee's role a bit). I'm glad that Netflix seems to be eschewing category fraud, but a push for Boseman in Best Actor is ballsy, and has the very real possibility of backfiring in the face of a powerful adversary in Hopkins. Netflix seems keen to get as many nominations as possible rather than netting equity in wins, throwing everything at the wall at once and hoping something sticks.

It's a less competitive category and an easier win for him and Netflix than in lead, and for both films.

At 12:17 minutes of screentime in Da 5 Bloods, his would be the 4th briefest performance to win the category. Certainly not impossible, but it would be something.
