Jenkins is coming hard for that Emmy.
I also am extremely stoked for this because Whitehead's novel is immaculate. But with that said, the issues I've had with Jenkins's films in the past have been entirely based on the writing, so I'm hoping that isn't a factor here. But the look of this project thus far looks impeccable.

Jenkins is really flexing with those silhouette shots. If he and Deakins ever collaborate . . .

As long as Edgerton goes supporting, he's gonna sweep.

Brad Pitt coming for that Emmy win. This looks amazing. I still think The Queen's Gambit has this tbh.

Brad Pitt coming for that Emmy win. This looks amazing. I still think The Queen's Gambit has this tbh. The Queen's Gambit was a phenomenon but this will hit at the right time and it's based on a fantastic book and looks like the sort of thing that would clean up the Emmys any year. Anya will still probably be the favorite but I would bet on this being the big tech juggernaut and it also has the timeliness angle to it.

That's a great trailer.... Also, checking imdb, I didn't realize Peter Mullan is in the cast....as Edgerton's father, I believe.

In love with the score.
This is so winning best limited series at the Emmy's. Sorry, Queen's Gambit but this is stealing your thunder.

And with its ASC win, The Queen's Gambit has now gone 10/10 at the guilds, even defeating last seasons juggernaut Watchmen in some key guilds. It has just way too much momentum, and The Underground Railroad won't be without its detractors. Some will think its too artsy, some will think its too heavy/depressing, it won't be universally loved from all areas like The Queen's Gambit is.
This feels like another Chernobyl vs When They See Us.

This feels like another Chernobyl vs When They See Us. HBO won out over Netflix that time, though. And let's not pretend that Chernobyl is all sunshine and daisies.

The source material would be insanely hard to screw up, and Jenkins is a master visualist. The weak points of his films up to this point have always been script-based, so I am hoping this finally closes the gap and gives us a true masterpiece from the man.

Watched the first episode, and this shows a lot of promise. I love Jenkins' very distinct style of combining meditative, dreamlike, dialogue-free sequences and haunting, painful imagery that pulls no punches - it's a little jarring, but in a very appropriate and memorable way. I'm hoping for a stronger sense of character and development of the central relationships going forward, but I have full confidence in Jenkins to pull this off.

Three episodes in and I'm in absolute love. Head over heels, pure euphoria, best miniseries I've ever seen. I had no idea this show was going to go so big, bold, wild and unhinged. I cannot wait to dig into more. On a purely technical ambition level Jenkins surpasses his masterpiece Moonlight within the first minute. I always knew he was the best of the new era of filmmakers who broke out in the '10s. This is like his OK Computer or My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy or Magnolia moment where you can tell he's just going for broke and swinging for the moon. My god it's overwhelming how incredible this is. It's like every single shot needs to be a Cuaron-level jaw dropper. Jenkins is the successor to PTA. Best TV I've seen since Twin Peaks: The Return, and this might even surpass it.
