I half-expected Rooney Mara, tbh. But a solid get.

Has any director ever in their mid 80s been as productive and ambitious as Ridley is currently? One in post, one filming, one in prep..... It's insane and I hope they're all great.

Oh def, but Sully is a walk compared to three large scale period pieces in a row Thing is, Ridley is the perfect fusion of the auteur and the producer. The man has a vision but he always keeps one eye on the dotted line. This is a man who routinely delivers blockbuster-level films underbudget. I can't think of anyone else like him. If you gave him something like Killers of the Flower Moon, he'd do it for $30 million easy and put the rest of that money towards five other projects.

I am frankly astonished by this tbh - that one in post, one filming, one in prep thing is amazing AND these are all big films with logistical challenges and he has an insanely tight date to hit in November for Gucci along with The Last Duel film hitting in October. Comer of course is in The Last Duel too like Driver ...........so he's gotten leads across movies........ Let's hear it for the old guys, ftw

Somewhat OT, but I saw yesterday that White Noise or Wheat Germ as I guess it’s going to be titled is going to have a bud of 80 million!!! That seems freaking insane to me for something from Baumbach even if it does have some kind of big scenes involving special effects and explosions. I guess Netflix can afford it, but now I’m wondering if Baumbach still owes alimony or something lol. Or maybe he developed some kind of vice like gambling or drugs, and most of the budget is actually for that.

Josephine was six years older than Napoleon. Jodie Comer is nearly twenty years younger than Phoenix. If that's not miscasting...
They should cast someone like Charlize Theron or Marion Cotillard, or somebody else who would look actually believable as an older woman.

Still better than Mank, which cast as Mank's wife an actress 29 years younger when in real life they were the same age. And as Marion an actress 27 years younger when she was a year older.

Kubrick's Napoleon is still on deck - Fukunaga this week said, "We've got all the scripts of the episodes now and we're getting ready to see where the next stage is on it. So it's happening."
Question for Kitbag..... besides Josephine who'll be the central focus..... What other characters might factor into the movie? And who are we casting? I imagine Uncle/Cardinal Fesch will play a part and Napoleon's mother - I can see Irons and Huppert, non? Also, how could Ridley not find a part for Camille Cottin....

Ridley should just call the movie "Fuck All Y'All" in advance.

Seriously should get Camille Cottin... being French will make the captious happy. And her green eyes looking at Joaquin's green eyes, you've got a movie.

Please give the role to either Jennifer Connelly, Vera Farmiga, Catherine Zeta-Jones or the grossly underrated Bellamy Young.

Rachel Weisz would be a terrific choice as well.

He could also go with Adèle Haenel if she is ever going to act in anything again (grrrrr) - nothing on her IMDB since 2019........wtf that would be closer-ish to the right ages........not that I think that matters to Ridley..... Camille Cottin is perfect for the age gap irl - or perfect in "movie ages".......Josephine was actually older than him by 6 years.......Phoenix is 3 or 4 years older than her ......but that would work........ if Scott was willing to cast Comer who looks like Phoenix's grand-daughter.......he's very flexible with that age thing

I know we have a lot of fans here, just throwing it out...... Marion Cotillard has worked with Joaquin and Ridley already, and is currently or just finished filming a series for Apple+ so they have a little in there....
