I've only seen one of his films, "Larks on a String", which I liked a lot though. Always wanted to see "Closely watched trains", for which he won the foreign language oscar, but sadly haven't been able to do so yet. Same goes for "I Served the King of England" and some other movies I want to check out.

RIP! Closely Watched Trains is probably the most accessible and classic Czech new wave pic. I'm also a big fan of the darkly satiric Larks on a String - which is on PRIME for anyone interested! It was made in '69, but suppressed by its gov't for over 20 years, premiering in 1990 - it won the Golden Bear beating some big time movies. Gotta see more of his work.
